Ok I should probably explain it a little bit more, the CCP came out of a brutal Civil War between a lot of Warlords and Taiwan. It was essentially a Battle Royale for control. The reason why I predict Taiwan will come out on top is due to the fact that with Taiwan’s Military strength they could retake the homeland. Especially against a totally disorganized China. Also China won’t be as peaceful as the dissolution of the USSR think the fall of Yugoslavia it will be a lot more like that.

TL:DR China has a tendency to explode into a bunch of waring factions.

Edit: I don’t know a lot about Asian History but I will try to answer any other questions you may have to my best ability.

Retreat, comrades! The China understander has logged on!

“It was essentially a battle royale for control” :agony-shivering:

Also, when he refers to Taiwan’s “sheer military strength,” he’s actually talking about the US.

      :mao-wtf: :wtf-am-i-reading:

In their current state, Taiwan’s military won’t even be able to defend against a PLA invasion lmao. A lot of their military is made up of conscripts who don’t even want to be there, and who only have to serve for a few months, barely long enough to even know how to function as soldiers, let alone be effective at actually fighting.

From all I've read, young Taiwanese just want to be Taiwanese at this point and don't want to be Chinese anymore

the majority of Taiwanese simply want to be Taiwanese.

It's a bit more complicated than that. Most people in Taiwan probably think of themselves as Taiwanese, similar to how people around the world generally identify with the regions/areas they grew up in and/or live in. But it's important to point out that as of last year only ~1/3 of Taiwanese people were in favor of declaring independence from China (source). The other ~2/3 of Taiwanese seem to mostly be grillpilled on the topic of whether Taiwan should be it's own thing or part of China.

They literally think Winnie the Pooh is banned even though he's probably one of the most popular cartoon characters over there.

Also how the fuck is that even an insult? Pooh is like one of the most humble cartoon characters.

It was a photo of Obama and Xi walking together, and a Weibo user posted a graphic of Winnie the Pooh and Tigger directly next to it. It was a hilarious match, with lanky Obama and rotund Xi. See for yourself: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DE680g_XsAAaplZ.jpg

It's lese-majeste, the crime of mocking the ruler. Everyone who forwarded it was suspended or banned.

AFAIK, it started as overzealous Chinese internet censors taking down posts/memes made by Chinese netizens comparing Xi to Pooh. Western media eventually picked up the story and then due to sinophobia, propaganda and a bit of misunderstanding, redditors wound up turning the story into the Chinese government banning Pooh because Xi was personally offended or something like that.

The big one was a kid having his exit visa revoked for posting anti-china memes while studying in America. He had to go home and spent I think 10 months (?) in either jail or house arrest (or as the western media calls it: "welded into his home").

One of the posts was a Winnie the Pooh meme, so of course they run with it.

you know my favorite part about reddit is that its users pride themselves for being these smart and enlightened wise guys with cool jobs and funny memes and on the other hand it's just a huge porn aggregator

so whatever's going on in their heads is interesting at least

When the bombing happened Reddit took it upon themselves to catch the bomber. Thousands of Reddit's finest banded together and IIRC doxed an innocent bystand and contributed absolutely nothing of value to the actual investigation

      tank man

My favourite thing is when people post tank man as though it's an own on china. Yes china, that terribly oppressive country where a bunch of tanks stopped and did nothing to a man standing in the middle of the street haranguing them.

Also weren't the tanks leaving the square and tank man wanted them to go back and stop the protesters?

the American ruling class at this point is far too lazy and disorganized to get anything like that off the ground
