Really should have been something from the time vaccines were rolling out en masse. WTF is the point of vaccinating people if all you're going to do is piss away the benefits by not mandating that people show proof of vaccination.

Also agree with Shitbird's suggestion. Give people who are hesitating to get vaccinated a reason to go get vaccinated. I don't care how deranged some of these anti-vaxxers are, there's no way they're turning down money, unless they are well off.

Purely as a box ticked to say "ok you have no excuses for getting sick now. we're reopening at full speed and if people continue to get sick it'll be their faults for being unvaccinated, not ours". The vaccine apparently actually being somewhat effective is incidental

My work paid people for three hours to get vaccinated and while it's not a lot of money, a surprisingly large amount of people who were on the fence or even anti-vax decided to get it just for the cash.

I still can't believe it but it actually works.

This is actually a thing that works sometimes as long as the price isn't too prohibitive, sometimes you get situations where maybe you want to give old furniture away or something but if you list it for free no one wants it they assume there's an issue, if you sell for 20 bucks all of a sudden they're at your door wanting it. I don't think vaccination works the same way here but it's not without some form of precedent.

I really wish I had that pic by that one right wing artist who’s even crazier than Garrison where some lady’s baby is getting vaxxed at a Police check point.

      this one?

artist's name is David Dees and he died last year from cancer in the style of Steve Jobs (refusing medical treatment, pursuing quackery). before losing his mind, he was a highly trained commercial artist. during his descent into madness, he was super prolific... if you image search his name you can find archives of his fever dreams.

The same Post-ABC News poll found that 86 percent of Democrats had gotten at least one vaccine shot compared with only 45 percent of Republicans. Right-wingers are literally dying to own the libs.

Want to make a joke about right wingers dying, but ya herd immunity is a thing.

I won't support mandatory vaccinations. Ever. I really can't in good conscience. Not to mention with current market incentives of big pharma. Also, not to mention that I don't trust my capitalist government to do this right. I'm huge on consent and autonomy over my body, sorry.

That's why I took the vax. I still don't want the government to force people to take things into their body and by extension tightly control movement and access to public spaces. And where I live, over 80% did or does take it. We don't all live in the US-lacking decent education-of A. I never said this isn't a huge dilemma.

And with how a certain fascist regime in 1940 took over and readily used our magnificent bureaucratic machine to very efficiently subjugate and send thousands of men, women and children to their deaths make me kind of weary of these kinds of powers (referring to the infrastructure they are putting in place right now to track vaccinations and control access to public establishments). My country has not one, but two very popular proto-fascist parties in the wings. Even the current government coalition is up to their neck in fraud and has some extremely ghoulish neoliberal practices that hurt a lot of poor families. I don't trust them with this power.

I fucking hate this virus exists, and we should do our part to protect the vulnerable. Like forcing big pharma to give up their patents, so generic vaccines can be created, for example. What about, making sinovac and Sputnik V vaccine accepted and available in the EU. Currently, they aren't accepted for their new 'covidpassport'.

They very successfully shifted the failure and blame of ghoulish capitalism onto people like me, who would like to keep their bodily autonomy and don't want their proto-fascist governments to have complete control over them. They are responsible.

They're dancing around it. Nothing is certain, nobody is doing decisive action. They're all just fucking passing the responsibility to each other. Measures are enacted and detracted willy nilly. It's a complete shitshow here. But if france is anything to go by, they might do it. Depending on how much buildings survive the protests. Then again, coercing is not the much better than forcing.

i think we should do 'em like we do wildlife with like rabies and encephalitis and whatnot. state DNR people bop around in their trucks and when they see or get reports of someone in the demo, they roll up and pop 'em with a tranquilizer. then they give them their shots, give 'em a radio collar, an ear tag and a paint tag or ear notch. in havana they had a problem with stray dogs kinda running amok, so they would nab 'em, fix 'em and then notch an ear before releasing them with a little collar that was like, "hi i've been fixed and have all my shots". so something like that. and, you know, if they really, really want to pull the "i have body autonomy card", then fine... overnight freight them to Plum Island to start their new life of full freedom.

i think this would be a great start for dealing with chuds, idiots and assholes. get a little catalog going, track their movements for future public analysis/research, and most importantly, stop them from vectoring a fucking pandemic and hurting/killing innocent people.

when you have diarrhea in the public pool, you lose your rights to get in the pool without a big old pair of submersible diapers.
