It's still weird to me that they waited a few days before also banning moretankiechapo
I dipped in there after the sub ban and it was actually a thriving community entirely its own and had nothing to do with the podcast or the main sub. It was a place where I could still learn how to be less of an ignorant American dumbshit. MTC added to my reading list right up to the last day. I had already long since mistrusted the Reddit admins and their empty platitudes about "free speech," but that sub ban just cemented what I had already known.
I don't think their regex was really thought out. They were probably looking at "chapo(X)" instead of "(Chapo)" [or whatever, I'm not a regex engineer].
Point is, the "moretankie" probably saved MTC than anything.
Nah, ChapoDogHouse is still around. I'm guessing it was based on user activity and/or reported posts; I dunno, I have no idea what the admins' tool kit is like over there. But yeah, it should have been easy enough for them to do a quick search query against the subreddits database table and identify anything with "chapo" in the name.
The few times I have seen the site admins explain themselves, this is exactly how they operated. They just get a database jockey to run the query, and the person who does the job is not involved with the site community in any way. A few of the founding admins were still competent enough to do bans themselves, but kn0thing was the last of that breed that I knew of and he just resigned.
Time online is so weird to me, so I had to look it up: Jun 29, Jul 10 respectively.
Summer has been so full of nothingness for me that I lose track of time.
I've just realized that I've been spending pretty much the entire year sitting in my room, staring angrily at American politics like a lunatic.
I need to get out more
ChapoFapHouse still lives, it's NSFW but I feel like I shouldn't have to tell you that
Need a c/ChapoTrapHome for like, home furnishing and DIY shit. Could also post shit about house building and how-to-farming-commune type stuff. I have a shitload of material I could post.
Edit: also RIP I hope the rest made it here.
Many have not yet, but as we keep growing and becoming more established we'll be more visible and they'll find their way home :)
never forget what they took from us
I lowkey want a /c/cth2 for old times sake tbh
A true pity. r/ChapoTrapHouse37 was the only one of them that was free of liberals.
Go fuck yourself, the /r/ChapoTrapHouse37_2 discord server's IRC branch was better
We for real need a space for Garfieldposting, whether it's named cth2.
Bruh there was chapotraphouse2 through like 70 something. including chapotraphouse420
Yes but few were large or active enough to have an actual established culture. 2_2_2 was the third most established of the numbered chapos, after 1 and 2, IMO.
Oh please, cth3 had a more established culture than even the main sub.
Still waiting on my /c/Chapotraphouse3 or /c/NoPosting
does anyone remember what the tech one was? I think it was cth6, I loved that one
Shut the fuck up, don't remind me. I still miss that place. :crying face:
