Emiliano Zapata Salazar, born on this day in 1879, was a leading figure in the Mexican Revolution, the main leader of the peasant revolution in the state of Morelos, and the inspiration of the agrarian movement called Zapatismo.
Zapata was born in the rural village of Anenecuilco in Morelos State, where peasant communities were under increasing pressure from the small landowning class who monopolized land and water resources for sugar cane production with the support of dictator Porfirio Díaz.
Early on, Zapata participated in political movements against Diaz and the landowning hacendados. When revolution broke out in 1910, he was positioned as a central leader of the peasant revolt in Morelos. Zapata was responsible for defeating and ousting various invading armies from Morelos on multiple occasions.
On April 10th, 1919, Zapata was assassinated, double-crossed by a member of the Mexican Army who had pretended to switch sides. When Zapata attempted to meet with the would-be defector, he was shot to death.
"It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees."
- Emiliano Zapata

guess who's back :isra
It's so weird to see like the same 10 conversations repeated ad infinitum on Reddit. It honestly does feel like it's botted
I'm pretty sure if you're posting in a place like this, then that background check is 100% gonna flag you as a political liability. and even if they don't, the CIA is objectively the foremost terrorist organisation in the world who all deserve to die horrific deaths
Idk how you are irl, but usually it's difficult to hide your politics and you can only do so much. Consequrnyly it's actually so funny a former cia guy tried to recruit you. No wonder basically every person they tried to embed in the Soviet Union got domed.
If you don't mind the scrutiny of a background investigation and lie detector test, I say why not? I doubt one could get through that considering OSI got a genzedong poster fired from aerospace. Unless they want a patsy
Tbf from what I remember of the thread on it, someone went through their post history and found them divulging details about what type of project they were on, who their firm had worked for in the past, etc... sounds like all the feds would have needed was the IP connected to the account (assuming they didn't also leak enough unique personal details) to figure out exactly who they were. Could have been a random fash who first tipped the feds off.
which I do find to be really dumb when you look at Zapata and his actual politics and actions. frankly, he didn't give much of a shit about running Mexico, he wanted land, justice, and the rights of the native villages to be respected. he almost entirely fought the entire war in Morelos, and not because he had no change to break out but because his entire campaign was about Morelos and the people there. I'm sure he had ideas for how to run Mexico, but no wish to be the guy to carry them out
I think Villa would have liked it more than Zapata, but it's still not really his style. Villa was a get his hands dirty machisimo type of guy, not a politician. they were both great men, but neither were guys like Mao or Lenin who had that eye and spirit for the politics on a statecraft level
idk raiding yankee border towns is exactly what i'd call 'presidential'. like a based santa anna :data-revolutionary:
it's based, but the kind of guy who invades the US with like 30 guys to fuck shit up is not the guy who sits down to debate monetary policy and inflation rates, you know?
they way they got him was so dirty too. he was invited into a compound by the army leader who was then like oh Zapata please let us honour you with a gun salute. at which point they aimed the guns at him and shot. real cowardly shit from a man they never would have beaten in open battle
Guess who almost forgot they had a paid gig in an hour and a half?
:big-cool:
Sure hope all the batteries are charged and I didnt forget something exceedingly crucial
my last show was our first one back since covid and pretty big, when we were setting up I realized I had left the power adapter to my drummers head phone amp at my studio smh.
luckily one of the backline bands had a personal mixer and we just plugged into that phew.
Well, this is a photo gig, so everythings all on me :squidward-nervous:

ONE THOUSAND FOR YOU!!! :lets-fucking-go:
if there's one fucking thing I absolutely deeply hate in media, it's when drama is created via some contrived bullshit around miscommunication. I am autistic, and people not saying the thing that they mean and this then blowing up into a whole issue is a huge issue I have had in my life, and it makes me super fucking anxious all the time. when I see that in such a forced way in any media, like I will literally just immediately turn it off. it's not even interesting, it's just absolutely contrived because you felt you needed drama in this story and so pulled this out of your ass rather than any actually interesting drama. I hate it so much and cannot express how much it ruins like a solid 30% of any movie or TV show ever I try to watch
I watch a fair bit of anime, and it's particularly bad as a genre for dragging out plot contrivances like that. I feel ya
I've got another fun one for you: members of a leftist org arguing with each other and repeatedly failing to get the basics right about each others' explicitly stated positions, even written positions. All during a general meeting / convention, all a complete waste of time because they didn't really read the other person's position, and this happening for an hour straight for different matters.
My lib brother really argued that "not all the SS were war criminals or Nazis" because of that finnish guy Larry Thorne who joined them after serving with the finns, then later joined the green berets.
Really was all like "He just wanted to fight those mean Russians who were aggressive to Finland".
Man joined the SS. He's burning in hell after being owned by the Viet Cong.
Going from SS to Green Berets seems perfectly consistent with being a fascist, dunno what else to tell him
Well at least my other brother, my twin, is based at least (browses here actually)
Libs, forever sympathizing with fash to own the communists
Like, I generally don't have much of an opinion on the winter war, but goddamn seeing Finland apologia from him and on Reddit really makes me wish Finland got burned to the ground.
you know, that says more about the green berets than it says about the SS
Fucking lol at US Americans who want credit for the US being a "good" country because we ended slavery (on paper)...
*after a bunch of other countries did
**it took a civil war to do it
***terms and conditions apply
making a note of every poster who admits to listening to cum town. yeah that's right, I know your shame
This fucking picture may be one of the most dystopian ones I've seen recently. Special credits for the "Welcome to BUF5" banner and the "fulfillment" part.
