I'm kinda wondering what the breadtube version of stolen valor should be called. Like it's kinda crazy to say this when she did not actually attempt the surface level reforms. She didn't help with either of the Bernie campaigns, she was never an organizer, an activist or anything like that. She went straight from being an edgy poster to a youtuber.

Unironically, the most insane out there "tankie" twitter people actually did more to try and make social democracy happen since a lot of them are former bernie bros.

Contrapoints is literally just Kyrsten Sinema with a Youtube channel at this point.

"Breadtuber". Their entire shtick is stealing valor from the socialist movement.

That botany youtuber who illegally plants trees in his free time has done more praxis than all breadtubers combined.

She honestly seems increasingly out of it. I legit enjoyed some of her earlier work, everything recent is just some incoherent ramble that seems like her complaining about an argument she got into with a 14 year old on Twitter.

Is she seriously attempting to make an utilitarian argument against revolution using something as abstract as 'envy' as a proxy?

What in the actual fuck. And what the fuck is revolutionary violence in the face of the tolls that capital exacts on a yearly basis? This is such a fucking privileged and ensconced take.

Edit: I'm just getting more and more fucking pissed thinking about this and it's fucking ruined my entire fucking mood. I'm on break right now and I'm looking forward to going back to work. Like what the fuck man. I'm always skeptical of all these YouTubers and I can't help but feel that CP's increase in popularity and the money that comes along with it is having an effect. Or maybe she was like this all along. I don't know that much about her. But honestly it's such a fucking bummer that this shit is being amplified to people who probably think she can do no wrong

superficial surface reforms do not interest us

most of us are probably """radicals""" because the "superficial surface reforms" were promises that are never delivered.

in fact, everything has only gotten substantially worse since I became politically aware enough to form opinions (like, fourth grade)

I liked Contra when she was doing videos on, like, TheGoldenOne and shit or topics like philosophy tube. But some time between say 2018 and 2021 her videos have become these sprawling 1.5 monstrosities. I started tuning out once she regularly cross 1 hour

But, I listen to podcasts this long. I think its because it's also a visual style maybe?

I'm not in the anti-contra discourse because, like I said, I stopped watching a while ago. It's weird to see her now... I feel like I've grown so much as a person in a personal sense and a political sense. The world has changed so much. But contra is still... the same... but with more costumes I guess.

I dropped Contra like a rock around the time she made it clear that she was a dyed in the wool lib, and it doesn't seem like I've missed much since. Also that I can't deal with that much theatre kid energy.

also the fact she makes like 300k per vid now and rocks the booj aesthetic. sure, maybe it was fun while you were a small time trans youtuber, but the fact is you are now a rich trans youtuber and it feels like youre looking down your nose at all the poors with the aesthetic and the surgeries you got while not even telling people the doctor's name to help them search for good docs

which is stupid as shit because everyone saw your transition, stop acting like you just got poofed and help your people out if youre a public figure

Contra was nice when I was more of a lib a few years ago, but yeah - stopped watching her 3 years ago, can't see myself going back.

Like I don't think she's Awful or Evil or anything just that I don't really care for her videos anymore.

her wealth and fame have made her evolve a more liberal and less radical subjectivity.

As the empire declines and climate change wrecks havoc on the capitalist world order, liberals in increasing numbers will retreat into coping fantasies, utopian fictions of liberal institutions triumphing over the entrenched capitalist powers that underlay the very same institutions they adore, even while these liberal beacons fail systemically around the world

Once upon a time liberals could form material analyses of the crises that undermine capitalism and adjust accordingly, but not anymore they're out of ideas and imagination, even the best of them can only try and fit the square peg of Keyne's general theory into the round hole of modern capitalist Digitalism

As always, the only future is with the working class

"The problem must be critiqued at the root"The the root always turns out to be some "All-encompassing evil" right, like "Society itself, the system, the machine"

I got really mad at this, then I realized it's not worth getting mad at. Natalie has reached Thomas Friedman levels of analysis and understanding, so she just gets to be funny now. I love how her entire understanding of revolutionary theory is watching the "Threw it on the ground" music video.
