Basically, people hold her up because she’s said good stuff about queer people in the past, which is cool and all but it’s basically the lowest possible bar for not being a total chud. Mainly her critics say everything dolly does is just about her brand. They also say that her whole shtick is based on some myth of “good white Appalachian/southerner”, kind of whitewashing some of the history of that region.
“Dolly” (or more likely the entertainment company who runs all her shit, although it’s been claimed that she has “total creative control” also had a restaurant draped in confederate iconography called “Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede”. Don’t worry though, she changed the name. In 2018.
She has some great songs, don’t get me wrong. But from what I’ve heard she shouldn’t be held up as some woke slay kween. As the other posters said, working conditions at Dollywood are famously terrible.

My favorite thing is that people are saying trump is ruining the institutions, procedures, norms, or what have you. But if someone like him can just win the presidency and ignore or purposely ruin them without any real consequences, then it just shows that those institutions don’t really matter or have real power. Most of it is all a show and as long as imperialism keeps going and capital keeps expanding, they don’t care.
Whenever I read things like this, I'm always shook by the sheer amount of vitriol a person can generate.
