I wouldn't exactly bet on immortality but it's not out of the question that we'll have the technology to extend our lifespan by quite a bit.

To my knowledge nothing so far discovered has extended our lifespan. So far we've only figured out how to stop a lot of things from prematurely ending a life.
Anti-aging science is starting to rev up tbh. We've already effectively de-aged rats and cell cultures. Extrapolating that to humans is a ways off, but not impossible by any means.

You and your kid’s life expectancy will probably stay the same or go down though with climate and economic instability. For moral purposes mostly though, can’t just let everyone live forever, unproductive overpopulation population bomb brave new animal farm blah blah blah.
Edit: This is not to say billionaires will have anything to do with the ability to live forever. We just live in a society where they will benefit most from it and can stand to pull up the ladder behind them.

Yep, subreddit wasn't great before but after that stunt, I (and many others) lost all hope that the place was going to be anything other than rapists jerking off to the fantasy of living forever, and left. The fact that there's nothing left but a bunch of techno-feudalists bullshit is completely unsurprising, because those were the people who never gave a shit about the science in the first place.
I can safely say that I hope all get that sexy robot body that say they want, then realize that "oh shit, actually this isn't awesome, being a robot is actually a really shitty existence" and have to live with that pain forever. I'd rather live in a society that provides an old age with dignity and community. Extending life past what we consider old age now doesn't really attract me--the rhythm of life is good to me, even though saying goodbye to those you love is painful.
Yeah that's where I land as well. I totally get the wanting to explore the universe thing. There are few things I want to know more than the secrets of space and time. I suppose until we can expand humanity into the solar system (and probably even then) we're looking at such a finite amount of space and resources that I think it's better that we each get our time on earth then move on for the next generation.
