22 members of my family have died of covid since December 2019. I lost some really beloved ones, plus a bunch of dipshit chud relatives. At this point I'm fully prepared to get notified my parents are in the hospital on a ventilator.
Jesus fucking christ that's worse than one of my best friends who lost 8 family members most of whom lived on reservations. Absolutely irredeemable that we have allowed this to happen as a society.
a good number of mine deliberately tempted fate by refusing to believe covid was real. They congregated in large groups, never wore masks, never took precautions, never got vaccinated nor tested. They never believed covid was anything more than a trick being pulled to make Trump look bad, even as they were gasping to death in a hospital bed. Their surviving siblings and children also don't believe covid is real, so nothing has been learned and the bodies just keep piling up.
Sorry for your loss
But I'm really curious now. Do any other health problems run in your family? You'd be incredibly interesting to follow as a case study
The only shared health issues I know about are autism and diabetes. Those two are more common in my family than the general population. One reason I've lost so many is because my extended family is so large. Family gatherings would easily exceed 150 people. The ones who died were typically the most boisterously conservative and least cautious. None of those 22 were vaccinated and most of them took no precautions whatsoever. Continued going to family gatherings, traveling, never wearing a mask, and never getting tested when they exhibited symptoms. Several of them died literal hours after making Facebook posts about how covid was fake and they loved Trump and blah blah. I also lost a few really dear family members before a vaccine was available.
Despite all of that I don't really hate them, I just feel a huge emptiness. It's extremely unfortunate how miserably brainwashed some of theme are. I have really good memories of them from when I was a kid. Used to hang out with them a lot more.
In any case, I hate America and wish nothing but eternal hellfire for the bourgeoisie and their servants in washington.
They're actually all either bean poles or some kind of sports player
In South Africa Omicron is actually less severe at the moment. Key part being "at the moment". Want to know why?
Because 0.5% of the entire countries population (280 000 people) has died of COVID 19 since May 2020, so basically everyone has some form of immunity from previous infections and/or vaccines, or is, uhh, in the mourge already.
:yea: :sadness-abysmal:
South Africa also has a larger share of younger people, who generally become less severely afflicted, than the western countries have. AFAIK at this point it is to early to say if omicron gives more or less severe covid.
I think it’s too early to be sure, but not too early to have some pretty strong suspicions that it’s less severe.
While South Africa is a young country, we can still compare apples to apples by comparing it to South Africa’s Delta wave. While cases are high, Delta had a higher case fatality, hospitalization, and severe outcome rate than Omicron.
I’m fully okay with waiting to get more data before being conclusive, but I think the point estimate is less severe with a wide margin of error.
From what I understand, booster shots really help against omicron. If you wanna stay out of our broken hospital system, schedule a booster as soon as possible
got mine yesterday.
that booster got me good, been feeling lethargic af. :sicko-intrigued: :sicko-luna:
Been cuddled up in bed playing Crusader Kangz II, no idea what I'm doing.
btw how much tylenol do I need to take to feel high?
Tylenol contains acetaminophen which is incredibly harmful to your liver in high doses, so don’t do that. Do whippits like the rest of us
Like @Oso_Rojo and @take_five_seconds said, do NOT take more tylenol than you need. That shit is not benign. I know the getting high on tylenol specifically was partly a joke, but since you said you were serious about wanting to get high...
If you want to get high off OTC medicines you have a few options, all of which I could go into more detail about if you care. @TheModerateTankie suggested robotussin, and that is good so long as you can get the kind that ONLY contains DXM (dextromethorphan), no acetaminophen, no guaifenesen, etc. Personally, I would recommend RoboCough which is sold as a medication but is absolutely made for the purpose of getting high. It has no other active ingredients. DXM is a powerful dissociative so if you do use it, educate yourself on it first and use it with cautious respect.
RoboCough
their websites a fuckin doosy DRINK MILK TO ELIMINATE 90% OF AFTERTASTE
not even the whole aftertaste 90% of it
Yeah, it's kinda hilarious. They have actually toned down their website and packaging, no doubt because it was too obvious it existed only for people to get high with. Like Rolling Stones-esque lips and psychedelia all over the place. And from what I've heard, the milk thing is terrible advice! I know from experience it's bad advice with respect to rice, soy, or almond milk, I don't drink cow milk. It just locks in the terrible after taste. Best bet is to chase it with something strongly carbonated.
By only DXM, you mean no other active or inactive ingredients…?
what if it has USP 20mg Cough Suppressant Guaifenesin, USP 400mg Expectorant
in other words how does this one look
https://www.cvs.com/shop/robitussin-adult-maximum-strength-cough-chest-congestion-dm-max-non-drowsy-cough-suppressant-expectorant-raspberry-flavor-prodid-1040188
The issue with that one is the guaifenesin. If you take enough of that robitussin to get enough DXM to get you high, you're going to be consuming a lot of guaif. Now that's not going to damage your organs like too much acetaminophen would, but it is very likely to make you puke and just overall mess with your stomach. You do not want that much guaif. I've known of people who put up with that for the sake of the high, but I would certainly not recommend it.
Oh and the USP isn't a drug, it has to do with standards. Like, it's saying it meets the US standards for being 20mg of DXM per given volume.
Edit: This is a very handy tool for calculating how much DXM you're going to want to take given however much you weigh. (The more you weigh, the more you need to take for the desired effect). Honestly, the calculation seems pretty low to me, but better underdose than get too much. The helpful thing looks like the drop down menu for which product you're using literally tells you which products are the ones with only DXM as the active ingredient. I wish this had been around back when I was using DXM on the regular.
This one has been around for forever, but only gives you straight mg of DXM.Thanks for this. Do you think the Children's Robotussin has any guaif?
Hey @Lundi I don't mean to single you out, but I'm curious if you ordered or tried DXM yet. If you are till thinking about it and have questions, feel free to ask. It's not for everyone - some people don't care for it. Personally, I found it life-altering, in a good way. But it's just not for some people and there's nothing wrong with that. I guess I'm just saying... I'd think it was cool if you felt like updating us all on how things went, if indeed you took the plunge. But I also get it if you just want to keep it to yourself, whether you ordered and any experience was had or not. Either way, solidarity comrade.
Hey, I haven't yet. I was at the pharmacy the other day and I saw Robotussin on the shelf, and one with only DXM as the only active ingredient at that but I didn't end up getting it. I think I will on my next trip there. Would you say the high is worth it? As in, is it something truly significant or is it just a mild effect? How would you compare it to shrooms?
Just check the ingredients. If the only active is Dextromethorphan, then you're good. (Dextromethorphan hydrobromide often written as DXM HBr). If there is another ingredient, it probably is a no-go. I know that the Dollar Tree brand of capsules are only DXM, at least they used to be and I've heard they were also very easy to steal.
I just looked it up and it turns out that of the several types of children's robitussin, the only one that has only DXM as the active ingredient is their extended release. Notice how underneath each type it says what symptoms it's supposed to relieve? Notice how that one only lists "cough"? Sure enough, it's the only one without other shit. However, it gets a little more complicated. The thing to be aware of is that this 12-hour children's version is DXM polistirex, not regular DXM HBr. It's still fine to use to get high, in fact some people prefer it, but it lasts way longer, and doesn't hit nearly as hard making it a lot more cumbersome to get your dose right. I've never actually done it tbh and I'd recommend trying the regular DXM HBr first. Here is one that is DXM only that is not polistirex if you really want Robitussin specifically. But there are others. Fuck amazon, but Robafen is one you can get in bulk from them. If you're ordering online though, I would just go with Robocough.
I'm convinced I got it in like April 2020 when I had this really annoying persistent cough out of nowhere for like three weeks. In a part of the country where it was literally impossible to buy masks at the time, so I just had to take my chances and I probably had a mild case.
My 2 cents / Anecdotal evidence from west coast: hospital staff are freaking out like it’s 2020…
I can at least add that I too have been hearing from health care workers that shit is bad and going to get worse.
My partner is a west coast healthcare worker. It was literally an overnight change this week. One day no positive COVID tests, the next day 8
Something just ravaged our bakery a couple weeks ago, and my boss, who is super paranoid about COVID refused to believe it was the new variant because NPR said the new variant got off on the wrong exit and isn't here yet

Liberals are in denial about Omicron because it exposes the fact that the US
can'twon't do shit about it, even though the orange man isn't president anymore.
No one is doing anythign to prepare or try to slow it down, either. They have to be deliberately letting it all hit us at once, right? Try to have everyone keep things open until we can't, then open everything back up a month later and say "we did it!"
yee fucking haw :deng-cowboy:
:shrug-outta-hecks: gonna double up masks but wtf can we really do at this point.
basically nobody can do that but spreading less/getting less viral load is supposed to be good
I have literally traveled to stores only 10 times this entire year
reinfected 2 months ago from a grocery visit
Buckle up y’all about to see the difference between r value 2.5 and r value of 18.
The R value is 4 in the UK with 70% of the population double vaccinated and 40% with booster.
We're absolutely fucked. The only hope is that hospitalisations are lower because vaccination and boosters are clearly making it less-lethal.
R value will depend on behavior and population. Measles surely has a lower R value right now due to mask wearing and a chunk of the population staying home. Also it matters whether they're distinguishing between vaccinated and unvaccinated - the 18 is with no vaccination.
Yes exactly. And because the population is gaining more immunity over time (vaccines + immunity after getting infected), these high R0 values mean it's getting more infectious.
Yep seems that way. I'm in an area where the hospitals have been at capacity for a while now and I'm pretty worried about what it will be like when omicron hits.
I got told by a coworker it's more or less gonna be how your body reacted to the first two shots
It felt like getting punched in the arm and that's about it. About equivalent to a tetanus shot.
My reaction to the booster was similar to the 2nd dose, maybe a little bit more mild. My wife had a very different reaction to the 2nd dose and her booster reaction was also similar to her 2nd dose, but a little stronger. Might be good to plan for whatever the 2nd dose did to you x1.5 or something
first two I barely noticed, maybe a tired few hours or something. the booster knocked me on my ass for a day and a half
I worked the day after both. Went to bed pretty early when I got home tho
Didn't do much for me, fucked a friend of mine for like two days.
It's the Zapf Brannigan tactic of throwing soldiers directly into the line of fire until the enemy runs out of bullets. Or in this case, until the bougie run out of poor people to make blood sacrifices with.
