I will not read your item descriptions, Kojima.

Item descriptions? Lore? What are you talking about? The story of every Souls game is "naked beef jerky man runs around bonking big skeletons with a sword bigger than he is".

I barely have enough time these days to figure out how to play games + the gameplay loop, idgaf about every "Lore" Youtuber who does their own interpretations of the vagaries contained within, gleaned from inane item descriptions and lines of dialog spoken once by one character in a nigh inaccessible location, all of whom have their own 'theories' which may contradict one another

I want to hit things with a fucking club the size of a tree trunk

I'll have you know it's actually "old grandma runs around bonking big skeletons with a hammer larger than the last tower while decked out in more armour than the nearest armoury".

You laugh, but deciphering Dark Souls lore is the closest thing I have to religion right now.

My friend does this lol. Never come up with a story, just get your players high and give them munchies and watch their minds get blown as you confirm all their suspicions are true with a small caveat

I just happen to be the right kind of nerd to be interested, I really like Chronicles of Darkness stuff (well not Beast obviously). I'm actually hoping to run a WtF game for my family when one of my old players moves back home.

That's a very interesting worldview for a mage, but even if you're right that makes you a scelestus technically, right? Sounds like you'd find yourself in conflict with other Mages pretty heavily, which I guess is good for keeping things interesting.

Literally a Borderlands 3 writer, I don't care if its a joke if you write something that obnoxious you should not have the fucking gall to joke about other games writing.

I am so very glad I don't have the reflexes to get past the first section of a souls-like so I can spend 20 hours loot grinding to work out what the main quest is about.

Now if you'll excuse me I need to look for secret and highly obscure references to an alternate dimension made by a coffee stain in Skyrim.

I've played every Miyazaki game multiple times and I've never read the item description or even really cared about the story when I'm playing. That's all just there to provide atmosphere between cool boss battles. I listen to a Dark Souls podcast after I finish the game to find out what the story actually was.

Bloodborne was the only one that you could figure out the story by just playing and have any idea what the choices you were making actually meant.

Although I'm not getting my hopes too high for Elden Ring because it seems to be Dark Souls again but with horses. In any case I will keep drinking this garbage.

Bonfireside Chat, they go through every area and discuss lore and game play. They have vati on for a few episodes as well.

With the exception of dark souls 2, every one of those games starts with a long ass intro video detailing who you're going to kill and why and then has at least two NPCs at the hub zone who constantly remind you about your quest.

It's not the game's fault if you skip dialogue and then can't follow the fucking story.

Gold-eating chaingun was confiscated from a planet that had a workers uprising

        :sicko-pog:

doesn't work with any equipment buffs

        :sicko-no:

At least it basically never runs out if you find it late game

I love this game because I have no idea what I'm doing or how anything is supposed to work, yet I still kill lot of shit and make everything explodes. Which is pretty neat.

Dark Souls has a collection of writing prompts with no connections that far more talented people than the writers spend hours obsessing over.

I mean, one was a family movie about the perils of techno-futurism and the other was an action game about mankind punching Dark Gods to death.

But "people took your background blurbs and spun out a ton of compelling fan fiction" isn't the own you think it is.
