    Apparently the Canadian Government is encouraging people to volunteer. The globe and mail posted a fawning article of a person STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL going to volunteer. All the comments were people encouraging this 'bravery'. How as an adult could you possibly support this? The Canadian mind is truly perverse.

          I realize after typing this that this is asking more about the 9/11 reaction, but for others here is some of the Canadian reaction to current events.

          Yesterday there was the hostage taking of a plane that contained Russian nationals, the CHL (Canadian Hockey League, comprising of the three junior leagues the WHL, OHL, QMJHL), a league for teenagers, will no longer be admitting Russians or Belarusians. Our deputy PM has been seen holding OUN/right-sector iconography, any push back on this last point is dismissed as 'dis-info' and 'misogyny' .

            I would rather be a Muslim in Canada on September 12 2001 than a Russian in Canada on February 25 2022. Absolutely no question whatsoever about that.

              Yup, canada change immigration laws as early as 1948 to specifically let in fascists by calling them anticommunists. By the early 50s it was basically 'show your ss tattoo for entry'.

          Not the person your asking and I’m American not Canadian but the parallels are pretty stark to me. I was young but old enough to remember 9/11 aftermath pretty clearly and it’s probably the only time I’ve seen this level of just outright bloodlust from every western person

          One of the things I remember about post 9/11 was the ostracization of Islamic/Arab people. I heard a lot of extremely casual islamophobia and anti-Arab racism. People saying stuff like they don’t use toilet paper etc. Lots of misinformation about them in the media as well as it calling for us to glass the Middle East, hoo-rah america shit. It was very much if you said anything nuanced about the situation or dare mention we were there for imperialist/resource-driven reasons you were straight up guilty of treason.

          A lot of the rhetoric in the media and conversations brings me right back to then. It’s wild. Real time is a flat circle hours in a lot of ways.

          Pretty sure thats the plan. Conspiracy time, they want more trained fash because its bad optics to have an official government sanctioned unit like from the army doing terror on the streets. They got to distance themselves from that. They know capital is failing, the signs are all around us. What comes to save capital? Fascism.

      I think the pandemic making everything horrible for so long for everyone is feeding into the frenzy of this conflict. Everyone's dropping restrictions and this is an opportunity to distract from the "new normal" being absolute dogshit.
