ignore copium in this thread— yes, all signs show that the opening week of the conflict did not go how Russia had planned. the way that they pushed in at first, launching paratrooper raids practically into the capital itself, implies that they were expecting to take Kiev in the opening days. Ukraine is really playing up the videos of Russian soldiers looting and asking for gas and abandoning their vehicles, but the fact that those things are happening at all let alone at this scale is an embarrassment to Russia.
that all being said, major and strategically important cities are still either falling or threatened. Russia is a long way away from losing this.
That is the only "win" they have apart from the completely fake shit like fake Russian POWs that turned out to be Ukrainian soldiers lol, random videos of a handful of logistics mishaps. They don't show all the things that should make Ukraine embarrassed like, I don't know, every airport destroyed or the constant barrage from Russian artillary or the fully encircled cities.
This is like if Saddam started sharing videos of US tanks under repair on the road and being like "see? American shit can't even handle the desert what a joke! hah victory will soon be ours!". Despite the absolutely horrible motives and doctrine of US armed forces it was completely undeniable they had exactly 0% of winning that war.
The same is true here. Russia could give their soldiers some of their museum T-34s and a few Mosin-Nagants and they would still be sitting around Kiev right now waiting to invade.
Once Russia finishes the invasion job, then they’re on the hook for restoring normalcy. As it stands now, they’re going to help kneecap the EU economy, take steps with China to get off the Dollar, and drive the US political sphere right back to their stupidest form of fascism. They certainly tripped over their dicks a few times on the way in, but this is far from over.
Oh absolutely the war isn't over, it is just that by all the most accurate reports Ukraine needs Putin to nuke his own troops in order to have any chance at this because as far as Putin is concerned he is already saying his objective will be achieved no matter what i.e I'm not going anywhere until this is done.
Do you think there’s any chance he’ll take a few cities, de-nazify / de-communize (whatever that means to him), and then withdraw claiming victory but leaving Zelenski in power?
Because if he aims to control the whole country… then this war ends when climate change stops it.
