It seems every day I log onto leddit, every single city sub is infested with these vampires gaslighting comment sections about M4A being unpopular, tenants rights being bad, Bidenposting, and any other bad faith take you can imagine. They've taken over that piece of shit of a website and it's sickening to see the only remaining useful parts of Reddit fall prey to their bullshit.
Buddy, this is the promised land, we can complain about whatever we want here!
its such a horrible community. whenever i see a bad take I remember that they had a weeklong struggle session on whether reagan was good. they had one post a week ago, with like 1.5k upvotes saying leftists don't think the civil war is about slavery. they're so fucking stupid
They still unironically Stan Thatcher for breaking coal unions by insisting she was an environmentalist.
I have to imagine that most of these people are completely spineless and just adhere to whatever the dominant idealogy is. We could live in a futurepunk dystopian society where we spend all day hatching football sized alien eggs directly out of our assholes and the neolib gang would be buying "Skrzlgrunk the impregnator" Funko pops
They're even fucking taking over /r/PresidentialRaceMemes. But there are a few of us still there fighting back.....but the subreddit is dead. Mods plus a few brigaders have done it in. What was once a pretty active and funny community is now a humor graveyard.
i used to like that sub, but yeah, not long before chapo died that place turned. You say a single thing about biden maybe not being a radical leftist savior who's going to kill racism and suddenly you're actually the racist for not accepting no change. Like im a foreign, labour-voting woman, and i've had someone in that thread insist to my face that i'm actually a MAGA incel in ohio or some shit.
Things are going wrong and the libs really just do not know how to cope lmao.
Yep. When they banned AlarmedScholar for allegedly creating sockpuppets and engaging in vote manipulation on a large scale they installed mods who had not really ever participated there, and ignored mod requests from people who had been active there. Including me. The only active user who got modded was jegopan, and the rest of the mod team decided on such "brilliant" policies like:
-
filtering out certain phrases automatically (including "rape apologist" and "rape apologia")
-
auto sorting all posts by "controversial," so the worst comments appear at the top, driving a very different narrative
-
allowing crossposts, including from places like /r/neoliberal, but banning the mentioning of other subreddits....again with automatic removal by automod
It truly is a shithole now.
The Reddit Admins doing a hostile takeover of r/PresidentialRaceMemes was one of the last fucking straws for me. I didn't post too much there, but you guys had great memes and a good culture going. Then they crushed it immediately after it became clear the userbase wouldn't be jumping on the Biden bandwagon and installed neoliberals.
The whole point of that sub's existence was that r/PoliticalHumor had become tired twitter hashtag resistance bullshit, but the Reddit admins decided we needed more tired twitter hashtag resistance bullshit, and that this was nonnegotiable.
Any sizeable subreddit that eschews civility politics in the name of leftism seems to quickly be quarantined, banned, or taken over by new mods. Curious.

I mean I am not really keeping close tabs on any particular subreddits anymore, except for really niche ones that are probably not quite "ready for Lemmy"... but the top post on /r/PresidentialRaceMemes is one making fun of Biden supporters from a leftist perspective, so it looks to be at worst a mixed bag at the moment?
It's because reddit banned /u/AlarmedScholar. Speaking of which, is he on here?
It's good to keep meme subs separate from more discussion-oriented subs, or else everything becomes meme subs.
Some good dunking going on there but I can't read their shitty views about losing faith in humanity
/r/NEOLIBERAL IS FUCKING EVERYWHERE. EVERY FUCKING SUB. APPARANTLY /r/IRONFRONTUSA GOT TAKEN OVER BY IT, LIKE NO WONDER, FUCK THOSE PEOPLE.
These accounts are legit posting like it is their goddamn job. It makes my skin crawl
(I just think the symbol is super useful and good, as it's easy as hell to draw/tag)
It's a good symbol, but we're not just gonna completely change the meaning. I don't think that would be ideal, anyway. Imagine you see someone with an iron front symbol and you genuinely have no idea whether they're explicitly anti-communist because the symbol has been co-opted so much. Why would we want that situation to come about?
I think most people who use three arrows are already not anti-communist. At least, that's been my experience in soccer circles after the Iron Front ban in MLS last year.
Unless…
Holy shit, I always assumed that is what the symbols reflected. Fascism, Monarchy, and Capital. Luckily this post sent me down the rabbit hole and got me educated. I will not be using this symbol.
https://www.reddit.com/r/leftistvexillology/comments/e1xcac/iron_front_flag_without_the_libshit/f8sc3en/
I think I like the idea of flipping the bottom arrow to be clearer about using it.
Like this for an antifascist flag of New England
SPD leaders (the party that would later create the Iron Front) ordered that the left-wing German Revolution in 1919 be crushed, and Rosa Luxemburg was among those killed. She was executed and thrown into a canal.
I saw that on ironfront. Absolutely pathetic.
Most of the accounts I've seen seemed to be less than a year old, too. What normal person gets into the internet and finds their home passionately posting about market solutions?
smh, imagine complaining about libs on a chapo community. If you don't like libs you probably shouldn't be here buddy 😔😔
Being from houston, when the US closed the consulate, all of the houston sub was infested with them, praising trump for "finally taking action"
Maybe someday there will be a !dunkonreddit community here or something. Until then you are more than welcome to complain about r/neoliberal here. Fuck r/neoliberal, all my homies hate r/neoliberal.
And people seem to be loving it. Great idea, great name o7
fwiw, I'm pretty sure any suggestion with more than like 20 upvotes is likely to become. And there will be a time in the not-so-distant-future when users can make their own communities .
For now, upvoted o7
Haha oh man, my favorite memory of r/neoliberal was when they spent days arguing with me that "rent-seeking" was bad, but landlords aren't becuase they dont "rent-seek"
honestly I'm 99% sure a lot of r/neoliberal is just chuds trolling
Nah, if that was true it'd look more like /r/politicalcompasmemes.
Neolibs look the same as conservatives because they're both ideologies about supporting existing power structures, so they appeal to similar people. Just one focuses on supporting the kyriarchy and one focuses on supporting capital.
You can thank every lefty who applauded russiagate and the dems drive for social media censorship.
