Excuse the electoralism posting but: He's already at 50,1% with 72% of the votes counted
Edit: Election tracker
Edit 2: Lula has mathematically won! It's now impossible for Bolsonaro to overtake him!!!
My brother who's still a bit of an enlightened centrist is trying to pull the "Fuck Bolsonaro he's the bigger evil but damn you know your country's fucked when your savior is a guy who got jailed for massive corruption."
Everyone needs to go listen to badempanada's bits about supposed left corruption in Latin America
There’s a lib friendly documentary on Netflix that could dispel him of that notion, I don’t remember what it’s called tho
Imagine this in the US.
Give it time. In 2024 - the GOP will call the races correctly within ~1 minute of the polls opening. And then eventually the GOP judges and justices will mop up and get the numbers right.
Yeah that was surprising to me as well how efficient their process is.
It seems to me that the US is just dogshit at the vote counting process. Most countries are somewhat decent at it.
Lots of leftover infrastructure from the federated system. Each state has its own process
Former pink wave had its mid socdems as well as those that ended up as complete failures either by being libs or by circumstances. Pedro ,ALMO and Boric already turned out like that in this wave but Lula can be somewhat better . Still no figure like Chavez or morales in sight in this one sadly
Yea… this is a take what I can get/marginally better than the fash situation I guess. Hopefully someone comes in from the left at some point

In Brazil how do the laws about recounts work?
-
Won't the results eventually result in a recount?
Supposedly there are no recounts since it's electronic voting, tough they can do an "electronic audit". These have been done in the past but have never changed the outcome or found any fraud.

3.4% of votes left to count with Lula in a 1.42pp lead. It's so close, it could still go bad, especially if there's some ratfuckery.
100% Bolso is going to insist the election was stolen and shouldn't count. No way he just walks away.
Isn't Bolsonaro kind of hamstrung by the fact that his entire party apparatus seems to have left the party? Like he has massive support from the millitary psychos and the evangelical boogies, but there is very little actual government that likes him enough to do something like fucking with the vote counts after the votes have been cast?
C'mon Google Translate. I don't know what you're up to but it can't be any good.
:rat-salute-2:
I hope the violence is minimal from the Bolsonaro crowd. :scared:
Even if Bolsonaro won every uncounted vote rn he'd still lose lmao
Bolsonaro would need almost every uncounted vote to win at this point, he's done lmao
