Reminds me of a minor drama that happened on the internet one of these days because a brazilian moved to the US and since she's a beautician she discovered that americans not only don't shower every day but don't wash their butts. Meaning that every time someone came in asking for a brazilian wax she'd have to tell them to wash themselves in the bathroom because even their underwear was dirty with poop.
Then an american doctor made a video response to her, saying that the tiktok was unprofessional and embarrassing. And that the correct thing to do was for the beautician to wash people's asses.
There's a case to be made that if you live in a cold place you can avoid using shampoo and other products every day. But there's no reason not to clean yourself of your own dirty skin.
And that the correct thing to do was for the beautician to wash people's asses.
Fr it's fucking disgusting, as a shameful USian
Luckily it seems like bidets are slowly catching on
I got a bidet and it's some of the best money I ever spent. If you go for a basic mechanical one without any of the fancy extra features, it's quite cheap, and they're easy to install.
I read some book where the mystic movement leader basically was complaining about Americans hygiene being horrific even 100 yrs ago, he was really flipped out about them not washing their genitals appropriately, also our bread apparently really sucked, even back then. Every time I deal with dirty clothes at work fucking still wet with people's various bodily fluids I think about that passage.
TBH I don't think americans have terrible hygiene. It's more like brazilians have different habits. We shower every day, sometimes twice. We bring toothbrushes around to brush our teeth all the time. And we also keep a trashcan in the bathroom to dispose of toilet paper. That is more bearable than it sounds because brazilians wash their asses before wiping, but it's definitely a culture shock for americans and other peoples who historically had access to good piping.
Some of those are climate related too, maybe outside of the deserts rainforests humid af. Still though, unless there's some health issue or accident that happens there's no excuse for people to go about in their own shit, and definitely not get it on random underwear they try on the store.
and definitely not get it on random underwear they try on the store.
i feel like there's a story there
It happens as a cashier at a clothing store, not super common but at least once every 4 months (to me) I'd say. Its like plz learn to wipe your ass if you're going to try stuff in the store, there was one customer who was like 'I changed my mind on these', you could see the skid mark fading on every following pair of underwear (they had 6 pairs), was some .
And that the correct thing to do was for the beautician to wash people's asses.
And it is. This is America, baby.
Rationing of water for individual use which is meagre compared to industry, agriculture or loss from decaying infrastructure is an important idea for the porkies who want to privatise municipal water supplies like Tatcher did in the UK.
Hygiene nowadays is a capitalists dream, it’s so easy to push irrational norms in this space. The commercials push for crazy things, washing your hair every day and then adding back the oils you just washed away with a conditioner, using some body spray instead of a baking soda based deodorant. Even toothpaste manufacturers try to scam us in using way too much toothpaste.
Not saying you should stink but honestly it is so much easier to be clean without using all those products. Plus it saves a bunch of money.
Deodorant instead of anti perspirant, brush your teeth, shower after you sweat, wash your hair with water.
Shower after I sweat? Okay but I don’t smell. Anyway, I’m on antibiotics again for a UTI. (The story of a coworker)
To be fair, my hair actually frizzes out when I don't wash it (with conditioner). It's fine for a day or two, but after that I should really get to it, because it also starts to itch.
You are right though, hygiene is a space of myth nowadays. Most info out there is bullshit.
not saying i dont believe im actually interested, do you have any sources on these claims?
Smash not being there when it's the one with most reports proofs opera gx is a normie browser
There have been several reports in super smash brothers (especially mellee) tournaments about people smelling like shit, so much so that people are usually urged to take deodorant nowadays
honestly need a gas mask and gallon spray bottle of fabreeze for some of these things
Actually, not showering is praxis because it encourages other people to mask
resist Big Shower & Big Toilet: shit the bed and roll around in it for your health.
You shouldn't wash your hair everyday. It can dry out your hair and scalp, potentially causing hair loss. But you should shower every because you most likely have sweat during the day and sweat smells bad and is gross.
Sadly my hair is so naturally greasy that I have to shower every day. On the upside, I'm going bald so I won't have to for long!
As a trans woman I can tell you from first hand experience that that is testosterone's doing. If you also have hormonal acne (or have had it) then that is a sign of excessively high t levels and a doctor could prescribe a low dose of spironolactone to help clear that up, do with that what you will
i shaved my head a couple years ago and I'm never going back
unless you do hard physical labour, daily showering isn't necessary
Just a quick toss of delousing powder every other day is fine for 3/4 of most people
And if you don't have delousing powder, powdered sugar will also work, and it's delicious
Please shower daily with soap and water and apply anti perspirant/deodorant to your armpits, and brush your teeth twice daily for 2 minutes each time. If you don't have access to a shower, a "chicken bath" with a bucket of water, a bar of soap and a washcloth will work just fine.
Idk if this is a bit but I prefer antideoderant without the anti-perspirant because doesn't that get aluminum in your blood or something? And it affects your sweating which could be bad for health or whatever maybe
Yeah so long as it works, it's good. Deodorant or antiperspirant, it doesn't matter much.
showering less frequently helps my skin not dry out, it's expensive to lotion up every single day like i'd have to with a daily shower
