What a mess! Its like the PAC who made it hired a 13 year old who makes little dark age edits, from 1950s kitchen appliance ads, to be their campaign manager.

Aside from embracing a degree of queerphobia which might be off putting for even the boomers who vote in Republican primaries (the ad essentially calls Trump a cuck for holding a rainbow flag, and shows gigachad.jpg after a reporter called Florida's trans policies genocidal) its above all else terminally online. Filled with clips of Patrick Bateman and Thomas Shelby as the sigma music plays. For everyone whose not in the "teenager whose tiktok bio says libertarian traditionalist-Fascist" demo, it's completely bizarre.

Meanwhile Trump ads attack Desantis for stuff that boomers actually care about, like wanting to gut social-security and raise sales taxes to 23%, no wonder DeSantis is floundering so hard when he's failing the first TrueAnon rule: be normal.

Anyway here's the ad if you're interested (TW: extreme queerphobia)

Filled with clips of Patrick Bateman

That movie's reception demonstrated so many staggering failures of literary analysis among its consumers that it gives me chills. doomer

I don't know, a power-obsessed sadist who gleefully watched his 'clients' get tortured at Guantanamo Bay, is kinda like Patrick Bateman fr

These are also the guys who watch edits of Inglorious Baestards that make the Nazis seem cool. Basically, they just skip 75% of the movie.

It does, but you need to be more ham-fisted about the pathetic wretchedness of the Nazis. Any frame with them in it must be an indictment of them.

The Producers, as far as I know, didn't have nazis say "based" and model themselves after the not-stageplayed nazi in it.

This ad is what happens when you alienate artists.

Who is the intended audience for this? Blackpilled zoomers? That's not a very reliable voting block.

By alienating artists you mean queer people? This is clearly the result of your only policy being queerphobia. You end up with the most closeted misanthropics possible. Whoever made this is arguably an artist though. Its just their art medium is a 4chan webm.

I mean not every artist is queer, but the entertainment industry is full of queer people and friends of queer people. Even opportunists wouldn't want to risk their livelihood by working with DeSantis.

That is fair. I mean, it's literally comparing Meatball Ron to the serial killer in American Psycho as though that is a good thing.

something that fucks me up about the meatball is, what happens if trump dies or strokes out in the lead up to the primary. he seems pretty stressed out by the court shit. who is the GOP back up? wouldn't it be ron?

if trump is out and ron flops over the primary line, wouldn't the national chuds rally around him? at that point the only thing standing between him and the highest office is Biden, who is basically a quart of hotdog water in a shell made of 80% bondo and denture adhesive at this point. can you imagine copmala v desantis? or rather: can you imagine how hard the media would scream at voters to be emotionally invested in that contest?

the trouble with these absolutely ancient relics is that they could just keel over at the wrong time and create a procedural opening for a highly ambitious mutant with no establishment or popular backing. aka Cool Zone Overdrive.

Some unofficial campaign account tweeted it which isn't abnormal (esp. compared to Trump) but the main account retweeted it, which is incredibly dumb. The DeSantis campaign is standing by it because they unfortunatly aren't dumb enough to ever aplogize. As much as the media is making hay about it because its hot gossip, they can't articulate just how fucking "yes i am the badly guy", and closeted and/or incel 4channer it is.

Campaign ads aren't the same thing as Twitter shit posts legally speaking right?

Like I doubt Christian Bale or the Chad model guy gave their likeness away for this. That's legitimately bad for their careers

The original photoshoot was an art project apparently with a lot of manipulation, so idk it's complicated there as well I guess

The Chad model guy isn't real, they're highly doctored images from an artist who takes real people and chadifies them. The base models are generally unrecognizable compared to the final product.

The artist who makes them knows they have an alt right following and panders to them with a crypto grift. I doubt they care about this usage.

It is probably fair use. Also copyright has nothing to do with reputations being harmed. I guess they could sue for defamation but that wouldn't go anywhere either.

Actually, the music is probably not fair use, if they didn't license it.

The people behind Peaky Blinders issued a statement yesterday, or the day before, calling them out for using their work. There's not much that can be done because Meatball's gang o' goons aren't passing it off as their own work, merely using it as part of something else. There could be an issue with licensing, but it's so tenuous its hardly worth fighting.

Bale's American Psycho imagery has been used on 4chan and elsewhere for decades at this point, if he was concerned about it harming his career he would have done something about it already.
