She once said Israel is a settler colony and made chuds mad so she’s based unlike the other dumbass that got harassed that shills for Israel now

I guess that’s why we don’t hear about her nowadays ,criticizing Israel is a No no In the west

jfc. most of her criticism was so mild and the majority of it completely valid and when she was off it was merely in an eyerolling sort of way that was in no way deserving of even 5% of the hate she got what is wrong with these people?

Yeah, it's been a decade, which feels long, but for me it's actually good. I was a young, impressionable guy with leftist ideals, but definitely very much lacking awareness of anti-racism and feminism ideology (I still need to improve in that regard). I remember all of the hate towards Sarkeesian, the "Hugh Mungus" thing, and this fad on YT with hating on "crazy removed". Thankfully I got out of the pipeline quite fast and managed to see beyond the superficial reactionary criticism. In 10 years I've gotten a long way towards feminism, anti-racism and Marxism, and I'm hopeful for my further way in the following 10 years!

Edit: apologies for the removed word, it was a slur used against feminists back in the day. Thanks mods for making hexbear a safer space, I'll be more careful with such slurs even when directly quoting

They're still raving mad about her, 10 years later lmao. A chud family member of mine, she brought up that thing Anita said where she said "everything is racist and sexist" and that shows how the left is insane, or something.

Living in their heads rent free for decades. The culture war slop really does result in permanent brainworms

There's something incredibly funny about a chud who's so out of touch they're still talking about Anita Sarkeesian.

The minor ragebait gets discarded almost hourly, but people labelled enemies of chuddery? They're practically deified. I mean Soros has been their boogeyman for how long now? 20+ years?

Anita said where she said "everything is racist and sexist" and that shows how the left is insane, or something.

The truth about this is incredibly funny. Sarkeesian was making an ironic statement/joke during an interview/conference satirising the idea some people had about leftists/feminists, which ended up being clipped out of context by said people. They proved her point.

No amount of bad gaming takes deserves serious backlash like that, in no planet.

Even then, many of her takes were good.

Who else tipped their toes into radicalisation by how cringe this backlash and gamergate were? Like I didn’t play videogames for years out of embarrassment for even remotely associated with this.

I went to her channel when this was all going on hoping for some "Kill all men!" lesbian separatism and all I got was "Maybe women in video games should be more dimensional and less 'Booba-ah-Wooga!' for their personality."

Still ended up subbing tho cuz it's decent stuff on an otherwise reactionary platform.

Yes, gamergate really helped me to get over my anti-feminist phase. I realised how much of an embarrassing temper tantrum it was when I started to look into it and all the figures promoting it

I don't know if it's similar but it's feels like how alot of tech workers realised Musk was full of shit when he tookover X and entered their domain. The grifters won-over some losers but pushed alot of us to develop a self-awareness that our culture is rotten to the core and we're shit as a product of it.

Gamergate was definitely a tipping point. Dudes I'd thought were totally rational and on the level started showing their asses, and no amount of my trying to talk them out of it changed anything. Think the moment I gave up on trying to re-educate was somebody I'd grown up with, known for more than half of my life hard-r'd me for trying to investigate their misogynist fuckery and I'm just struck there like "how long have you been like this? how long have you been like this and just hid it from me like that?"

She is a land of contrasts. On the one hand she was a shitty art critic, but on the other hand she made gamers mad.
Then again I haven't actually ever seen any of her videos, so maybe she's not a bad art critic at all and gamers were just mad that their art was treated as art

The few things I watched from her were very basic feminist takes, nothing particularly offensive or insightful one way or the other.

I remember watching and thinking, "THIS is what people are getting so worked up about?"

Definitely wouldn't classify her as "bad" from what I saw

I haven't seen any of her videos since they first came out and the worst thing I could say would be that some of her points would be like "look at this overly sexualized female character!" smuglord which, sure, might not be the best or most interesting point, but people fuckin lost it

She did a Kickstarter asking for $6000 that got over $150,000, so people ended up being extra critical.

Except the people giving her money weren't the ones being "extra critical," and the ones being "extra critical" didn't give her any money, and also the kickstarter got posted on /v/ before it even hit its goal and almost certainly would have gone unnoticed if they had ignored it.
