A few years ago, there was a video that went viral of a Cuban gusano (in a MAGA hat no less) who pulled up a picture on her phone of her dear grandpa who the evil communists murdered. He was just a respected police officer, according to her.
Turns out, because she showed the picture of him, people were able to identify who this “dear grandpa” was. He was actually known to history. He was one of Batista’s henchmen who tortured and murdered quite a few people. As many at the time pointed out, that guy absolutely got what he deserved and executing him was cool and good.
Reminds me of that lady who talked at the DNC about her and her family "fleeing communism", but her father was part of the Nicaraguan death squads or something?
And their uncle deserved it, it clearly didn't work.
Given how reactionaries behave here, how they lie about the poor, lie about queer people, lie about their international enemies as easily as breathing, why would anyone believe their claims about what happened to them in a communist country?
Vietnamese liberals are more annoying than Chinese liberals. I remember someone from Vietnam telling me about Fullbright University and how they showed students there a video on American soldiers during the Vietnam war and the liberals were actually in tears because they “had no idea how hard it was for American soldiers.”

The more I learn about the Vietnam War, the less and less sympathy I have for its veterans. I'm at the point of "They weren't actually spat on, but they should have been. Probably flayed."
Unless you deserted, mutinied, or defected, you're on par with the Wehrmacht at best and more likely to have been the SS at worst.
How the IOF is conducting itself in Gaza is reasonable approximation for how the US military conducted itself in Vietnam.
I have plenty of sympathy for Vietnam War veterans.

I really was and I'm also thinking it's why so many Vietnam vets had PTSD. The nazis had the same problem when they were carrying out massacres before they built industrial murder camps.

And what was your great uncle's occupation before being put into that camp, hmm? I have the feeling he wasn't a plumber.
I would simply learn that communism was good after a very short time in the camp so I got released faster, but I guess I'm built different.
