Just when Russia meddling died down now we have mail in rigging. It never ends.

Gotta say though, two elections in a row with suspect results? Sounds like the US should do a coup on themselves.

It was conservatives who demanded that Pennsylvania count mail in votes last. I think the situation is the same for Georgia as well.

They know that mail in voters lean blue, so they're intentionally trying to put off getting their votes counted early specifically to dovetail in with election fraud conspiracies and legal attempts to nullify votes counted past election day.

Elections offices have been trying to get permission to count mail in ballots before election day, but in many red states, they've been stopped from doing so, with no good reasons given.

          It's so incredibly scuzzy.

              Good question, also consider:

              • elections are usually seen by the secretary of state, who may be from another party

              • Democrats are not good at their jobs, and generally should not be depended on to put up a fight, even when it counts

Don't know when it'll happen, but Texas going blue is only a matter of time, as both the metro areas grow and the younger crowd starts leaning further left.

Which is why they're thinking up new innovative ways to disenfranchise voters there, though, because the Republicans see it coming.

I mean, I'd like them to go the other type of red, but it's a real trend that's happening.

There was even talk of it happening this election. That turned out to be premature.

They'll probably go a more bluish shade of purple, FWIW.

The fact that there doesn't exist an international revolutionary vanguard backed by a socialist superpower is the reason leftist movements are besieged shadows of our comrades of yesteryear.

Without the threat of communist uprisings with bite, any serious left progress we might obtain (if any at all) will be transient, little more than a fever dream.

I do see that point, and realize how much progress in capitalist countries was just because of fear of the USSR gaining more world power. But I don't see any of it applying. China is just red capitalist. They're a command economy, and all the socialist talk is just that.

DPRK is creepy as all fuck.

They're not going to be the center of any proletarian movements.

Also, while I'm not really anti USSR, exactly, their "help", historically, seemed more contingent on having a strategic partner than actually supporting the struggle of the international proletariat.

The Spanish civil war being one example. Of many.

Sending the tanks into Hungary, hence the term tankie, being another.

Inb4 "but they were reactionary workers councils!"

I kind of feel like any result would. They're already complaining that the Squad and "defund the police" cost them seats in the House. And the media seem to be going along with it, as somehow 2016 didn't shake their belief that the key to winning elections is to be as boring, centrist and well-connected as possible.

It's kind of interesting that Biden is going to win by exactly the same EV margin as Trump did though. Well, probably - it looks like Trump may still have a decent shot at flipping Arizona, but everything else seems fairly certain now.

Runoffs are normal in Russia/France/South America, but in the US they're only done in some weird minor elections in like Louisiana and Georgia. There might be recounts if it's close though, but AFAIK the Trump campaign has to pay for them.

Did you took 1 Jo for for 1 Trump vote? That wouldn't quite make sense. You would have to introduce a ratio of people transitioning from Jo to: (1) non-voting (2) Trump (3) Biden (4) other candidates, lol

I guess that if we take 3/4 for Jo -> Trump there are still states that would flip, but fewer?

I was watching the updates at ABC and Trump's lead has fallen to just barely around 1,000 votes.

Trump led Georgia by 665 votes until an hour ago and now Biden has a slim lead that is barely over 1,000.

        Very very razor thin margins.

That would be awesome, but probably not likely. I kinda misspoke. The military is still pretty conservative, in the true meaning of the word. They're just not as in lockstep with the Republican party as they used to be. But they seemed to like Bernie, though. I couldn't find any opinion polling done about military members and their views on the primary, but they gave Bernie more donations than they gave Trump.

The political shift might be enough for the military to not be completely loyal to him in a potential SHTF situation where Trump tries to use the military domestically, though.

I mean in theory it shouldn't be hard, right? I grew up in a rural area, and sure maybe 50% of the people I knew who joined where chuds. But a good quarter of them also only joined because they didn't want to work at McDonald's with another quarter saw it as a way to "travel" because they were too poor for anything else.

It's not surprising that Georgia turned blue, it's been happening for years now. Remember when Stacey Abrams almost won there? Atlanta has been liberal for a while because it's a big city, and there are a few other pockets of blue, like the cities of Savannah, Augusta and Columbus as well as Athens where the University of Georgia is and the "Black Belt" that runs through the rural center of the state which has lower population but a higher proportion of Black people. What is new is that metro Atlanta's population is outvoting the rural parts of the state. Part of that is because more people are just moving there from other cities and countries, and those people don't identify at all with the "country" parts of Georgia. As for why it flipped late, I'd guess it's because the results came from Fulton County. Fulton County is home to Atlanta. The suburbs in the north are rich and white and those in the south are poorer and Blacker. If you look at any election results for the last ten years, you'll see Fulton County is far and away the last in the state to have results. Part of that is because they have so much population. Part of it is because there are precincts in the north and south that have a ways to travel to Atlanta to deliver their results before they can be counted. Part of it is because the elections department can't tell its ass from its elbow. This year, State Farm Arena, where they were doing their counting, apparently had a water pip burst on election night, which slowed down counting more. Of course, I don't expect anyone on the right to take any of this into account and instead they will scream about conspiracy, even though the governor is a Republican and a huge Trump fan who has been accused of stealing the election from Stacey Abrams while he was secretary of state, and the current secretary is also a hardline Republican. If they were going to steal the election, it sure as shit wouldn't be for Joe Biden.
