This is going to turn into an argument of personal responsibility and victim blaming. You can already see it with liberals down in the comment section - "if everyone just wore a mask, we wouldn't be talking about lockdowns anyway".

By March of next year, they'll be victim-blaming and saying stuff like - "those people died cause they were STUPID and wouldn't wear a mask!"

They already think the thing about “dumb hicks that won’t wear masks deserve to die” tbh - if you don’t wanna die you should just wear a mask* like slaygirlbosskween Nancy

*and have world-class healthcare provided by the state

Yep. All next year, that's what we're going to hear.

"Those people were STUPID and they should've wore a mask, they deserved to die!"

With Trump, the argument against lockdowns was that it hurt the economy and small businesses. With liberals and the Democratic party, they'll just say fuck those people for being STOOOOOOOOPID and they deserved to die.

It’s part of the same “poor = dumb = racist” shit that allows libs to shit on 50% of the population without ever trying to help them get out of that position

They have a new fancy politically correct term for that; "non college educated". In other words, fuck you if you're poor and didn't go to college!

I'm poor, went to college, dropped out because it was too much for my 20 year old self to work full time and do school full time and live so meagerly to afford california housing costs. I've learned more on my own than I ever did in college.

I’m SO mad I lost my prediction when the Reddit got nuked but I’ll try to paraphrase what I remember from March

“ Mybiggest fear is that all the blame for the poor response to this pandemic will be placed entirely on “bad eggs” (inevitably the poor and disenfranchised who will suffer the most from the pandemic) not following quarantine, which will exonerate state and federal officials and the health care system from all fault, leading to no changes.”

Personal responsibility is all well and good, but whatever happened to social responsibility? Why do we keep pretending that we aren't a social species?

maybe i’m missing something but isn’t it sorta kinda hard to feel bad for the red necks/no maskers who refuse to wear masks when me my comrades are out there making shitty wages risking our health? i know the responsibility should fall on a real and actual gov shut down but damn why haven’t they realized putting on a damn mask is the bare minimum to protect the people around you?

They are stupid yes, many of them are stupid due to austerity.

Republicans require a stupid voter base, so naturally they go out of their way to actively cultivate the dumbest motherfuckers on earth.

I know it's hard to not completely resent them, but in reality they are victims too.

On some graph I saw new cases kinda went down during the initial lockdown and then dipped a little again for some reason before exploding in the last month or two. Amerikkka killing it

Well, he won the election because of luck (covid happening and Trump mismanaging it), so with a bit of luck everyone will be vaccinated by the time he takes office.

I'm already seeing people blame others for wanting to spend time with their loved ones this holiday. Like shit, it's not my fault the fucking malls are opened and packed and no one's wearing masks. I'm not gonna fuckin miss out on Christmas because of it.

The profits of the giant retail chain I work for sure aren't, but I have to do that to avoid getting evicted so it doesn't really matter.

Yeah I suppose if you're already working a job like that that puts you at constant risk of exposure there's not much you can do to make that worse tbh

I mean yeah. I honestly think the people complaining about it the most are people who get to work from home this whole time. If you're a working class person, this year has already taken so much from you that there's no way you're letting it take the holidays too.

Like it reminds me of when extremely liberal people from like California or something say not to hang out with conservative family members, because like how much do you think they value you that your actions is what will get them to change their ways and it shows just how insulated they are from the rest of the world that this isn't a problem they actually have to deal with.

the beauty of that is it's just liberals making other liberals feel bad and ruin their holiday, while everyone else outside that bubble ignores it

This is what you get when you shape policy around corporate interests.
