You can't call them orcs then get mad that they chop your head off. That's like the classic orc thing to do, in fact they should have seen it coming.

Nazis think that if you kill a Muslim with a pork fat bullet then they don't go to paradise because Islam considers pigs unclean. As you'd expect from Nazis, it's based on a gross oversimplification and misunderstanding of Islam, and it's a trope that's been around since at least the Iraq War.

But wouldn't a Christian Nazi believe Muslims didn't go to heaven, no matter what?

You know how Catholic used to believe that unbaptized babies go to purgatory until recently? Seems like the same kind of thinking.

pedantic ex-Catholic voice Actually, the unbaptized babies were supposed to go to limbo, not purgatory, which is worse. In purgatory you can work off your sins and eventually get into heaven; in limbo you are just stuck for all eternity doing nothing. That's the horrifying bit that the Church no longer officially endorses

Of course they don't want to get shot and killed, but making them think they'll be damned and killed might make them more reluctant to fight . That's what I think the logic was

Except no Muslim would fall for that, it’s not a sin if a haram substance is forced into your body by kinetic force against your will.

                It’s just an islamophobic signal.

According to a friend of mine the trope has been around for a very, very long time (though with swords before the development of firearms). Unfortunately I can't find any information on it - my searches are mainly turning up stuff about the twitter post

Chechnya is a Muslim region. Putin sent them into Ukraine. Azov greased their bullets because they think that’ll curse Muslims to hell as if getting shot involuntarily is the same as ingesting pork voluntarily lol

It’s cut off from the pic, but the video was posted by an official and verified Ukrainian military page

Smearing pork products on Muslim stuff is a common Islamophobic attack. Gammons really think pork is some kind of Muslim kryptonite.

Aren't Muslims permitted to commit certain "sins" if it saves the lives of others or yourselves?

Like if you were dying and only had pork you could eat it?

I think in both Judaism and Islam, the only thing you are not permitted to do to save someone's life is to deny/blaspheme against/reject God.

But when we're talking about war, it really ends up being nothing more than an attempt at an offensive gesture.

There’s a fairly old Talmudic rule of three things you can’t do even to save a life (including your own): murder (an innocent person), blaspheme, and commit sexually immoral acts.

Chechens are fucking scary. Hardcore mountain people with a crazy history of warfare and resistance. Ukrainans really shouldn't be provoking then because the Kadyrovtsy look downright eager to kill anyone in their way.
