"Better solutions" went out the window 10-20 years ago when the roots of the current conflict went off-rails. This war is the reaping of seeds planted long ago. Now all the options are bad. Ukraine could have purged the Nazis. It could have better protected it's linguistic and ethnic minorities. It could have followed it's own constitutional processes when ousting what's his fuck during the Maidan revolt. Lot's of missed opportunities lead to this point.
