The 130mm B-13 Pattern 1936 was a weapons sytem mounted on Soviet destroyers. The weapon had excellent ballistic performance and was probably one of the best destroyer guns in service among the Great Powers in terms of surface combat. This high performance came at a logistical cost however. These guns had enormous barrel pressure and initial models had a barrel life of as little as 130 rounds. Some destroyers, the Project 1 leaders and Project 7/7Us, would need barrel changes before emptying their magazines. Deeper grooves solved this issue – the original had 1mm, and initial change to 1.95mm, and then a final change to 2.7mm. Whilst this solved the issue, this introduced a new logistical headache as range tables and ammunition were incompatible between the groove types. By 1941 however, the majority of the 378 guns in service were using the deepest groove. The 130mm B13 remained in production until 1954, with 1,199 mounts produced. Several were used as coastal battery mounts.

A project was in progress to lengthen the barrel to 55 calibres, called B2U, U standing for universal. The project was cancelled due to the start of the war, and were intended to be used on the next generation of destroyers.

The last series of destroyers this gun was used on was the Skory class, the first series designed and laid down after WW2. Several were exported to Egypt, Poland and Indonesia.

Cops shot 3 people in Sweden at the counterprotest to the Danish groomer who's burning qurans in public, media reporting it with the exact same language of "police report that 3 people somehow were wounded in connection to the police firing warning shots".

Also of course the usual rhetoric of "But they were throwing rocks at the police" and racist shit.

I got wrong dialed by someone I went to school with, so we had to do that thing where if you wrong dial someone you make small talk for a bit. How are you doing, what are you up to etc.

I hadn’t spoken to them since graduation but knew through the grapevine that they were killing it professionally. This is one of the most talented, put together people in the country for sure, like super elite

They are working in crypto :negative:

I mean yeah in a way it is, but it’s also really sad, like if our brightest most talented people are going into fucking crypto we are truly lost.

Of course I already knew that but still

Going to try and make it a point to not drink tonight. It's fucking with my meds and I need to stay sober so I can start figuring shit out. I'm glad though I was able to share yesterday my experiences with the paranormal. Normally I don't like to talk about it, along with faith. Thanks for reaffirming that I'm not actually crazy.

My dad this morning, completely unaware of the struggle sessions he could start saying this shit around leftists:

i know russia and china aren't communist anymore, but they did used to be

    :what-the-hell: :deng-cowboy:

and it's kind of uncomfortable how a lot of communist types seem to think that being a communist means that you have to or that its okay to support them

If you’re dad is liberal just point out his hypocrisy and remind him Bill Clinton put Putin in power

If he’s a chud just tell him China lifted more people out of abject poverty then the entire west did in the whole 20th century….and they’re better at math

So the obvious question is... did you engage with these nuggets of discourse, or let them be, unperturbed in their natural state? If you did perturb, how did it go?

I did a liberalism :ooooooooooooooh: but in my defense i had to get to work.

Obviously i've got no reason to stan Russia, but i've tried to vibe about China before and with certain libs you'll get a few minutes of "yeah, huh, i guess theres two sides probably... america has lied about shit before..." after a while, and then a week later they're talking about Muh Chyna CCP Authoritarian again. Getting people who are vaguely pro-leftist to actually support AES is so wild.

Hi, I need resources for organizing IRL for once.

My neighbor lives in the same gentrifier-building as me (think insanely expensive rent, worst renovations in the world, no maintenance). I've never talked to them before (we're super alienated from each other) but yesterday they came up to me and said they cannot pay the proposed rent increase and proposed organizing together. The increase is like... 50% on top of our current rent. Somewhat justified by the market but even then it's a stretch. The building has maybe 4 other units with tenants, plus several empty units.

I thought tenant organizing was a fake thing for twitter leftists but here it is in my literal home. What the fuck do I do??

First reaction was to knock on doors or maybe slip letters under people's doors. Is that a good start?

Can someone share some resources? Thanks!

The basis of all organizing is relationship building. If you can’t afford to live there with the price hike, you’ve got a few months at least before you could be properly evicted. Google tenant’s unions in your city or state. If you can connect with someone local who’s got experience organizing, that’s ideal. At the very least, their websites should have resources.

If you have any communal areas where people hang out, going there to complain about the rent may be advisable, but less so if the landlord has cameras on that spot

Thank you for this. Yeah we have a tenant's union, but I think they may have their hands full. I suppose I could offset their lack of resources by volunteering to organize :)

That aside, our broker told us to ABSOLUTELY contact them if we had crazy rent increases (which they just about guaranteed would not happen). I do wanna make use of this resource, but I'm also concerned that if they smell any frustration that they may snitch on us to the landlords. Really not sure about the downsides/upsides to this.

But moreover I need to get educated and look up my tenants rights, and to see if our landlords have been hiding any kind of existing rent control legislation in this building.

Legit, send an email or message to the tenant’s union. Worst thing that happens is they don’t respond

I had to take a "business writing" class in college, by far one of the most painful things I've ever experienced. One of our assignments was drafting a template email to send to people who were being laid off, another was a presentation were I had to compare the optics of a company donating through different charities. :agony-shivering:
