i mean these kind of CGI movies/shows are churned out on a literal sweat shop of outsourced animators, that's like illumination's bottom line and every other animation studio now wants a piece of that. do you think there's a raving audience waiting for the next entry of the secret life of pets? how many sing fans could there even plausibly be, yet they keep churning these out like there's no tomorrow. It’s not even needed. So many people just put their kids or grandkids on iPad time, so expanding the background video stock which is dirt cheap and easy to make is very profitable.

The idea that the reason Netflix sucks now is because of a lack of money and not because they pour millions into total garbage and can't buy up good shows for cheap to compensate, is manifestly at odds with reality. They have the hundreds of millions to pour into garbage.
The actual reason Netflix sucks is because they got royally fucked by content holders, which everyone predicted would happen as soon as Disney began consolidating like 5-ish years ago or some shit. Truth is they don't churn out prestige TV anymore because they want safe, reliable income to get that VC cash back. And they wouldn't even need to churn out prestige TV if IP holders hadn't all but striped Neflix's catalog clean.
Everyone knows they got screwed because everyone they bought cheap content from became their competitors, but they have money to throw around. They are one of the few tech companies that don't need to chase VC money, because they actually turn a profit.
Hmmm I thought Netflix was still moviepass and burning VC money up, it does make it more confusing that they insist on chasing cheap IPs that guarantee a profit yield.
Yep, I think this is it. Netflix was good when you could get a lot more content than you could with cable TV for a fraction of the price. Now if you want that same level of content you have to pony up for a bunch of different streaming services which will subject you to ads (some of them at least) and you end up paying as much as you did for cable.

They were convinced by shareholders or were got a good deal from the studio. That's all.

I have a theory that some of the execs at Netflix realized they hit market saturation so they're intentionally investing in 'new markets' with things like more boss baby or very polarizing things like Dave Chappelle. Then cutting down on password sharing to 'increase subscribers' that won't work and will drive people away. When Netflix gets bad enough they execs will sell off Netflix's IP to temporarily boost income then golden parachute to some other company like what happened to sears.

I remember being a kid quite vividly, and I would be bored to tears if I had to watch that instead of transforming robots beating the crap out of each other.
There's been a gradual shift I can't quite explain. Adult entertainment is more like what used to be for kids. Kids now watch stuff that used to be for pre-verbal infants.
Almost like those kids grew up to adults and still want to see the kind of entertainment they're used to. It just seems like a standard generational shift to me.

The turn around on production is that as soon as they have to start increasing pay or when the staff gets any idea about unionizing, they shutter the whole thing.
Sad Horse Show was shit, but it's no coincidence that it got cancelled shortly after they unionized.
Every netflix original or netflix produced anime that only got like, one or two seasons worth of episodes and then would just... stop.
