Lol I like how the passive voice is so ingrained that they use it to describe some pig getting mad and returning his items.

An officer had been involved in a shopping related activity, the XYPD told Press News this morning. Items were purchased, but then jimmies were rustled, so the items went ahead and returned themselves. The officer, once described as a loving husband by his wife (now sadly deceased in an unrelated domestic violence incident), was rushed away in a Waaaaahmbulance in critical condition.

This just reeks of something that never happened, too. Managers apologize to customers for the most inoffensive shit all the time; that's half the job. "Fuck you no apologies" doesn't really compute in a chain retail environment.

Ten bearbucks says this is revealed as another made-up cop sob story within 48 hours.

The people who work in that particular ACE are pretty cool actually, it's usually dead empty even in the before-covid times, and if there was another person in there 90% chance it was either a stoned college kid or some gutter punks

I used to live right by there for a long time lol. It wouldn't be boomers or karens, it's smack in the middle of Allston ("Rat City") right off the turnpike, near some graffiti that says "keep Allston shitty". There's a hardware store closer to the extremely bougie adjacent neighborhood, no one too wealthy would wander all the way up to the ACE

I adore Allston. One of the best neighborhoods imo (also on the cheaper end, probably even moreso now I assume especially with colleges being mostly online now, since it's a big student neighborhood.) - it still has character. JP and Dorchester are also pretty good, Somerville is also okay but it's getting expensive and gentrifying pretty rapidly

I mean probably not atm considering the pandemic. I'm not sure where they would've played but one of the best venue for local bands in the neighborhood just closed for good so it's hard to say

I haven't lived in Boston for a few years but I thought JP was getting pretty gentrified?

Yeah I'd believe that, I haven't been there in years at this point. That's pretty standard for everywhere in Boston sadly. JP suffers from semi-reliable transportation so it makes sense that it's happening there.

Appreciate the advice. It's always tough to get a feel for various neighborhoods before you actually live there.

we can probably guess that if this employee really said that while any other customers were in the store, there would be at least 3 Karens and a Carhart jacket Construction Foreman wannabe boomer in the kid's face instantly stealing valor & going off about Millennial/Gen Z entitlement

Sadly, one of our officers is too weak to exist in this cold, hard world.

I don't think so - but they're franchised. So there's an umbrella company that supplies the goods, but each store is owned and operated by someone local. Which doesn't make it a socialist business model, but it is better than its giant competitors - Lowe's and Home Depot. Home Depot is owned by a billionaire Trump supporter.
