Combined with him being so racist he lost his esports gig you'd really think a guy that devoted to capitalism and self interest would protect the bag a bit better.

thinking if I get my rank up getting viewers will be easier

a large part of the twitch viewer base don't care if you're good at the game or not, they watch for entertainment

i streamed once, 3 years ago, when a friend of mine gave me his old mic. I just streamed rimworld for 2 hours and talked to chat like we were hanging out in the same room. still have 5 followers lol
my completely worthless advice would be to just do it, and let the chips fall where they may

Yeah, it's hard. I remember listening to a pod where popular streamers talked about their success, and it comes down to:

                Must do these things:

                • Have a microphone
                • Talk about whatever while having viewers, silence is not interesting
                • Gameplay that isn't completely average. You can be really terrible, really good, or do something interesting outside of the good/bad structure.
                • Stream.

Then, you need to actually get some viewers. People that like what you are doing. Options include:

                • Be involved in the game's community and make friends
                • Encourage people online to visit, put out a call on this site or on social media or whatever
                • Perform some never seen before feat so everyone comes to see what you'll do next (unlikely to happen)

The most important thing to remember is that it's a slow process. If you're streaming with the sole intent of becoming popular, that's the wrong approach. Stream with the intent of having a small number of people that do keep coming back to watch you.

that costs like $500+ for the model and rig and stuff but it's probably really lucrative yeah

Honestly, when you're talking about getting as big as Destiny, you don't even have to be good at video games. Hasan's not great at video games, but he has 16k (ie makes a fuck ton of money) subscribers because he's entertaining. He mostly just talks about politics and memes and watches reality TV. He plays games for fun, but his audience drops off significantly when he switches over to gaming, generally.

I think he wanted to play footsy with the right. He probably made a calculation that if he takes their side they will likely watch his show.

Really shows how little they could give to open a safety valve on discontent, and yet they still don't. Shame.

Not trying to minimize how much money that is but 150k a year for a twitch streamer is far less money than it is when someone makes that much money as salary from some random corporation. You pay like 2x as much in taxes when you're a contractor. 75k a year to live off of still means you can't afford a home in a few of the major metros.

Sure, but people have families and shit they want to be near. Also forgot to add that a twitch streamer is likely on their own for health insurance so that's an additional 15k a year if you want any sort of decent plan from the 75k portion of that money.

The fucked up thing about all this though is that among young people, the only way to ever afford a home in a major metro is to be within that top 2% of income for your age group.

Here is the clip that got him banned. https://streamable.com/c3ra2r The thing he doesn't understand is that in America you can't kill someone who is stealing your property no matter what idiots on the right say. You can only exercise deadly force when your life is in danger. I can't just drive around looking for break-ins and start blasting.

I hate to be the one to tell you, but that’s not true. In Texas it is absolutely legal to kill people who are stealing or damaging property. It doesn’t even have to be property that belongs to you or anyone you know! It doesn’t even have to be valuable or tangible! Even to the point that a man who shot a sex worker in the neck for not sleeping with him after he paid was acquitted by a jury.

If you’d like to read more Texas horror stories just read that linked article. People have been acquitted in Texas for killing children because they tried to steal snacks. Shit’s fucked.

I still get a kick out of libs who finally have to reckon with the true face of America, and their response is almost always about how to best put down those that they claim to care about at the lower rungs of the ladder. Everything needs to be sanitized and work within your picnic dream, except that your curated picnic dream doesn't exist if justice actually prevailed materially.

I went and browsed the Destiny sub for some schadenfreude and now I'm just confused. What is wrong with these people? Are they literally vaguely-left-of-Democrat libs whining about fucking Breadtubers and thinking this is the "radical left"?

    Whaaaat

It used to be a better sub but Destiny literally banned anyone left of Hillary Clinton for being "commie larpers." So now its just sycophants.

Which sucks because a good chunk of his community used to be leftists and social democrats.
