Poland, NATO, Ukraine are all hooting and hollering and convening super important security councils to decide what is to be done. They are all calling it a Russian missile strike but all the photos and local Polish press show it to be a S300 with a range of 150km (no Russians within that radius)

It very carefully avoids stating the missile is Russian, it states the missile hit Poland while Ukraine was under Russian missile attack. It also states no marking indicating a Russian missile were found on the debris

Russia has a clear advantage in escalating. Ukraine is peripheral for Americans while quite existential for Russia. Russia only has parity with nato at the tippy top not within the margins. Kherson just happened and Russia needs to maintain it's credibility as a nation whose territory (of which kerson is a part) is sovereign before anything else.
