New York State will probably go red at some point in the next twenty years. It’s got an incredibly rare combination of some of the wealthiest capitalists in the country living in the same electorate as some of the poorest and most disillusioned. People forget that Trump was born, raised, and became wealthy in this state. That it has one of the most overfunded police departments on the planet. This kind of rhetoric would be expected from someone like desantis, but instead it’s coming from New York. Crazy.

Knew that was the next step after supermarkets started using face recognition.

Anyway, catching COVID has taught me that I never want this again. My mask is never coming off. They'll have to arrest me.

Yeah same, I managed to go 3 years without catching it and when I did it fucking sucked, and has fucked up my intestines in a way that’s likely permanent (and made me lactose intolerant). My partner came out worse than I did and now has fibromyalgia among other issues. I never want to catch that shit again, I’ve already become more of a hermit than I was in 2020, I don’t give a fuck about your laws you can take my mask off my corpse.

In authoritarian surveillance state China, it's illegal to wear face masks for health reasons.

    yeonmi-park

Also, what happens to Muslim women who choose to wear face coverings? Is there a religious exemption?

The NYPD has its own intelligence agency, has headquarters all over the world, its own submarine, and over a billion in funding

If you can’t stop crime with all those resources, then you’re just pathetic. Being unable to reduce crime “because of masks” despite all those resources just makes you look even more pathetic. But then I keep forgetting that making yourself look pathetic is often times a great narrative. Like how the CIA and FBI fumbled 9/11, or how the Israelis fumbled 7/11, or how the US “didn’t help enough in Rwandan.” The bleeding hearts get to feel justified in supporting more oppression, and the conservatives are there to seal the deal and ‘convince’ any hold outs.

So all that stuff about Chinese overseas police stations was just projection as usual.

or how the US “didn’t help enough in Rwandan.”

Any more info on what actually went on there?

There are two types of New York politicians:

      A: Republicans

B: Republicans that are trying to do entryism and run as democrats

Its not that shocking. After all New York had Pataki as state governor and Guilliani as mayor in NYC in the mid 90s to early 00s with . Bloomberg later, who was initially a Republican, but then became "independent". Adams himself was a registered Republican for most of his life. There's also the IDC Dems, who often vote with Republicans and torpedo progressive legislation.

This is what you get when Biden comes out as anti-mask like five months after being elected then immediately tries Trump's plan of "let's spread it on purpose to kill off the disabled and deny the pandemic to kill off the social safety net". Now everyone's at increasing risk for long covid. ArE YoU BeTtEr oFf tHaN YoU WeRe fOuR YeArS AgO?

      2021 was the dumbest year.

Masks mandate should’ve been policy until 85-90% of people were vaccinated. This would’ve put a level of social pressure on people to get it done. It also would’ve kept down the Delta strain super spreader events between Thanksgiving and New Years that made many people lose faith in the vaccines effectiveness

Masks still aren't a moot point, asshole. Cloth masks were never very effective, they didn't suddenly just stop. That doesn't change the fact that N95s were and continue to be effective and it's nonsense that they weren't worn correctly by "nearly anyone."

I’m frankly not that surprised. The city and especially the surrounding areas in LI have always had some of the most conservative and fascist populations in the country. There’s something uniquely dangerous about the thin blue line Italian American crowd.

Gotta say though I’m not sure if this covers surgical masks but more ski masks, which are also not uncommon to see.
