The fact they'd rather call in the national guard and put martial law into effect, rather than just throwing a couple of weak ass 2nd degree charges at the pigs to make people somewhat happy, is a good reminder that justice cannot happen within the system and any attempts to do so are futile.

          They’ve already lost.

The Imperial Core revolution won’t look like a civil war. The US is about to take an economic plunge. Trade deals are getting yanked and the Imperial Periphery is turning hard towards 🇨🇳

The old, white evangelicals have nothing to lose and will take us all down with them if they can. They absolutely want a civil war because they know otherwise they just become less and less relevant then eventually stripped of all their privilege. Whites will eventually become a minority soon, even with zero immigration. People are leaving their religion in droves, the faithful coalescing into fewer and fewer megachurches hides how the pews in total are getting decimated. The under-40 crowd have radically different political values from them and we will change things eventually as they die off and our numbers increase. So the Evangelicals know all this and they are COUNTING on civil war as their only option to reverse what is otherwise inevitable.

Damn good to hear people chanting "WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE BUT OUR CHAINS!"

I just love the contrast in the protests in 2020. White reactionaries protesting that they have to wear a mask in public or they can't get their hair done. And then people of all color demanding that the cops stop killing black people.

I'm guessing that if they do have FBI agents or alphabet soup agency agents looking through these posts they really won't be the best. Probably someone who has fucked up everything else they've been assigned really badly and is now stuck doing this as a sort of punishment while their bosses scrape together enough evidence to justify firing them.

Convince me that tonight isn't the start of the second civil war and that literally a bunch of pencil pushers in louisville could have stopped this with like a few second degree manslaughter charges (that prob would have been downgraded). Sorry just got done listening to it could happen here and am scared and prone to hot takes

Comrade: the Vampire Maoism revolution has a Zapatista phase that precedes the Shining Path phase.

The way to bring revolution is to unify people against electoralism.

If you’re a baby lefty this won’t make much sense until you develop your leftism further.

Zizek has a nice introduction to Mao Zedong’s work that we need you to read carefully.

The introduction Zizek wrote is a cryptic puzzle for elite academic radicals. Daddy is actually a Maoist, don’t be fooled.

I think the civil war will start when that extremist radical Christian-right judge gets the Supreme Court seat and then declares Donald the first king of the US. Evans predicted the Christian supremacists would start the shooting in the Pacific North West, but I don't think anyone could have expected them to take this route to fascism.

The most revealing part about the charges is that they show the system cannot contemplate situations where cops can do wrong. Civil lawsuit alleging federal causes of action? There's QI for that. Internal affairs investigating? There's police unions (who are also internal affairs) for that. In the rarest of cases, a DA investigating you for criminal charges? There's grand juries, a complicit State Supreme Court that grants immunity to its prosecutors, and an uncountable number of Supreme Court-enshrined defenses, for that.

One encouraging thing about protests is how far they've come in organization since the early days. I'm starting to think all of this is training us to the point where we can have multi-day protests as part of a national strike.

On top of that, these protests really do feel very "revolutionary". Maybe not explicitly socialist but it's people of all races standing up for the rights of the oppressed.

My money is on people getting disappeared. They're already using unmarked vans and unidentifiable uniforms to kidnap leftist organizers. That's already much of the way there.

I mean yeah, that's already happening. I'm saying the first time they use lethal force, they'll unload a hell of a lot of it all at once

              ·

I mean getting disappeared, as in the 70s-80s Southern Cone sense. Not just arrested, questioned, and released -- grabbed off the street and then never found again. To my knowledge that's not happening quite yet.

When the pigs start killing I doubt they're going to want to make it loud, big, and open. They know they can get away with killing someone here or there in public, but they don't know if the public will stomach a massacre. If something happens like that it'll likely come from some fascist militia, although the cops will probably know and look the other way.

yeah, that's definitely what they want to do but you're forgetting that cops are chuds at heart and itching to bash protestor skulls in and fill them full of lead. at some point, they're going to slip and massacre people because they can't control literally all of their roided out goons forever and that first time, it will be like the person who slipped gave permission to all the other cops to also unload. they'll re-exert control quickly but it will be too late at that point and the public backlash will be immense.

cops are chuds at heart and itching to bash protestor skulls in and fill them full of lead

They want to do this, but they want to do it in an environment with no danger. It's super easy to get people ramped up to fight -- it's way harder to get people (even chuds) ramped up to potentially get grievously injured or die.

They don't want to start a war, because they're outnumbered and however roided out they are they know that wars lead to people shooting back. There are enough Iraq and Afghanistan veterans among them for cops to know how terrifying it is to be an occupying force in a city where some of the populace is out to kill you. They didn't sign up for that; they signed up to have an ultimately cushy job where they get to beat on a lone 19-year-old with a few of their buddies. They don't want a real fight, they want to be in control.

well yeah but you're assuming most of the cops / national guard are smart enough to think this through. I'm saying that they're rolling the dice every time they deploy force and it's a matter of time before they lose the roll and fuck up.

      • hogposting [he/him,comrade/them]

This also makes it more likely for cops to quit, which only ratchets up the pressure on those who remain. Plenty of them didn't sign up for this.
