Honestly can't believe he admitted it

Edit: now I'm half worried he actually doesn't have it and is setting up a political show of 'how covid isn't really a big deal'

If he does have it and he recovers then he's really going to sling shit about it not being so bad

Actually he'll probably taunt Biden about it at the next debate, lmao. "You should try it Joe, it's not so bad if you're a tough guy like me"

As a Brit this was my first thought too.

Both got it just as their polling was tanking and coverage of COVID response was turning on them.

The display here in Britain made me feel more I'll than if I had had COVID. All the press treating him like he was Churchill or Princess Diana, praying for his recovery. All the 'Thank You NHS' signs in windows in my town replaced or joined by 'Get well Boris, we're praying for you' shit.

After all, it's not like Boris and Trump don't have friends and advisors in common.

We definitely don't. Corbyn is proof of that and your culture war has been fully imported I'm recent years. Marching far right, political assassinations, anti-maskers, anti-vaxxers, QAnon, free speech crypto-nazis being taken seriously, armed football hooligans 'patrolling' parks and public areas to defend statues and towns from Antifa. This country is worse than ever.

Yeah but politics aint nearly as mean over there. Like the average person who dislikes trump would not care if things got bad with him, that's different with you guys where people still see the office of pm as legitimate

Take it from someone living here, they absolutely are. The difference is that everyone here isn't armed and we're not quite as racially segregated. I could give a dozen examples but it's still early and I'm busy this morning.

Nah british politics is far more brash than American politics. The US house is far more civilized than the British one.

True but I rarely get the sense of pure, visceral, hate from British people that I do from Americans. Like my boss is English and though she's a Labour supporter she doesn't fucking hate BoJo as much as lefty Americans hate Trump

That's just because BoJo isn't nearly as bad as Trump. Tory's are basically just the same as what blue dog democrats are in the US. Joe Manchin sucks, but no one gives him the level of hate they give to like Trump or Cruz.

              Jihad for Amerikkka!

The great Democratic Caliph Joseph Robinette Biden has decided to call a Jihad against the Republicans in the Gerontocracy of Amerikkka. He urges all righteous Democratic Centrists to take up arms against the depraved Cheeto Donald Johnboy Trump of the MAGA Council of Amerikkka for the glory of Jeni's Icecream.

I’m asking myself the same question. Twitter being a shit website probably. Like when I click links from here and it says not available so I click again and magically it opens up.

Edit:nope. I’m guessing this is one of their soft ban things that all social media sites do these days. Because you’ll see one reply from like a minute ago pop up and then it goes away. Maybe when a bunch of people report it.

I'm already covering my bases by telling everyone I don't think he really has it. I think almost everyone expects him to be fine, then to talk about how not a big deal it was. I don't blame people for taking a moment to enjoy it though.

itll be 9/11 but all the time. the world would descend into fascism and barbarism due to white backlash at a string of consistent, mass casualty, terrorist attacks. the arab world might actually unite into one state in retaliation, they came close to it with the advent of israel but with the destruction of mecca it'd be a given.

I think that's too optimistic. There are enough contradictions and a tug of war between the ruling cliques of the Arab countries to prevent any such solidarity from going further than empty populist declarations. The American surveillance state has also gotten only more powerful since 2001, 9/11 itself having been entirely preventable but allowed to proceed for obvious reasons. And we haven't even gotten into the sheer devastation the US can dish out militarily should the Arab nations actually unite (although even then they simply lack the hardware [and training] for any serious projection of power to threaten the US mainland). There's very little even such a developed country as China can do atm if the US decided to cripple them as a punishment. Unfortunately :(
