    the US isn't real

have you ever observed the borders of it for yourself? Like went up in a rocketship, seen the continental US, and come back down? it's fake, just a part of the great ice wall controllers' charade.

Half the population of China is just gone, and somehow, the world didn't even notice.

They tried to do that thing where they all jump at the same time and shift the earth's orbit but half of them floated away

makima-think Ah yes, a Turkish cooking channel that out of nowhere starts uploading 35 sinophobic videos in the last 11 days. Seems legit.

Ah Tabloids, telling us silly but untrue things like “aliens found” and “the west is beating China.”

It really feels like YouTube videos are getting longer and longer. Finding stuff that's 3 to 5 minutes is difficult. Everything is at least 10 minutes, but usually 30. Half the videos are padded with nonsense like sponsors or drama about the channel or whatever.

The larger allowance for time means there's less editing. Or the editing is worse than the old jump cuts every five seconds of 2010.

The first 2 minutes of every video is a basic essay-style summary of their thesis. The next 6 minutes are shilling for a scam company, their channel merch, and Patreon. The final 2 minutes are the video but unfinished because part 2 is coming next month but you can get early access by going to their Patreon

The old adage that you can skip the first 1/3rd of almost any YT video and not miss anything important continues to be true.

The consensus seems to be that 30-60 minutes is the current "sweet spot," the reason being that apps like Instagram and TikTok are better for shorter videos and stuff like Netflix is better for full movies. Youtube's alorithm seems to be tuned with this idea in mind, from the way it prioritizes watch time, which sucks because a lot of mid-tier channels just end up creating videos with a lot of filler.

A few weeks ago I randomly clicked on a video about “the problem with the drama community” or whatever just for shits and giggles and turned it off after 2 minutes because they were just getting into a feature-length analysis of some twitter spat between irrelevant sloptubers nobody’s ever heard of like it’s the most important thing to ever happen

And then I realized that’s basically all of youtube now

Get yourself in the dad pipeline. All I get are videos about NTSB incident reports, trains, machine shop stuff, civil engineering, and drafting.
