Trans people ability to predict the future??Possible
its not even fucking out yet wtf are you actually talking about
as much as i hate g*mers the people on this anti-cyberpunk crusade are almost just as fucking annoying ngl
Is this the backlash to the backlash to the backlash?
Either way, it's funny to watch
it's so fucking annoying i hate the internet like just shut the fuck up everyone :sadness:
I'm just having fun watching the most pointless circlejerk in existence
it's just so fucking terminally online, "it's objectively shit" when it's not even out yet, most people don't even know about any of the controversies surrounding it and it's gonna make a bajillion dollars
"trans people were like its shit" yea like 5 of them on twitter
It's cowardly to the point of being insulting to the people around them, specifically us trans folks, we're not some fucking monolith, I think the game looks good with some flaws. It's fine that qelp doesn't like it. Not all media will appeal to everyone, but don't fucking tell me what my opinion is because of my demographic.
I'm kinda just like, call out CDPR, let people have fun, still critique the game, idk I just wanna play FFXIV
I'm up for it. Ive been begging for this for a while. Unfortunately we have to decide a server. I'm on Brynhildr.
It is really good. Shadowbringers is the best FF story since X. You should do the free trial. You can go to level 60 and go up to the story of the first expansion Heavensward which is when the game starts to get really good.
I’m on Midgardsormr but I’m not particularly attached to it, althought it’s supposedly more chill than others in the NA data center.
Shiva, i let my sub lapse a while ago tho, been thinking about getting back into it
You should. The next expansion should be announced very soon. 5.4 was released today and Shadowbringers wrapped up last patch. I'm on an American Data center.
I'm on EU, I might resub after christmas, though i'm gonna miss my old FC
The Cyberpunk struggle sesh has been the most stupid and pointless so far
Like just torrent the game and delete it if you don't like it, they even made it DRM free
Might want to hold off on torrenting it for a few days until the day 1 patch is available.
the nicest thing about liberalism as an ideology is they bring it to you, no matter where you go.
such service, delivered free of charge to your very own website, university, or country.
see for yourself lol, plenty more clips if u can find them, cdpr keeps dmcaing them tho

I used to be able to consistently get under the map on gta4 if I was on mushrooms. Never could do it sober.
Bruh I'm the dodo master. I would take that thing out to the secret island all the time.
No that dumb plane that would stall unless you flew it like the stock market line was called the dodo.
have you seen what New Vegas looked like on launch? cause it was fucking unplayable too
you cant judge a game at launch cause they all suck ass at launch, that's just literally how the gaming industry works
have you seen what New Vegas looked like on launch? cause it was fucking unplayable too
Like literally unplayable, as in "it crashes every 10 minutes" unplayable, and "my saves all just randomly got corrupted for no apparent reason" unplayable
the dude's head spinning around at the beginning of the game still haunts my dreams
it is
i remember that skyrim had a bug that was actually terrifying where it caused the mannequins you put armor on to come to life and follow you around
That's still a thing btw, there are a few mods that fix it, but in vanilla it still happens occasionally
It's because the mannequins are actual NPCs, they are just supposed to have no ai package and frozen animations so they just stand there, but they occasionally get assigned one when papyrus shits the bed
I bought a skyrim special edition on xbox one years after it came out that had a game breaking glitch when you fought the guy in the book and they were never going to bother fixing it.
I distinctly remember walking through a door and getting catapulted thousands of feet in the air as soon as it loaded the outside cell
Then it crashed before I hit the ground because of course it did
this is like the music equivalent of an artist just dropping the stems then actually releasing a song like 3 days later, like if ur gonna release something borderline unplayable day 1 then thats 100% going to factor into my experience with the game. you can legit find other people saying that the game has multiple issues making it unplayable https://www.pcgamer.com/how-buggy-is-cyberpunk-2077-really/
Hand-wringing over media consumption is the 69th form of liberalism.
yeah, giving a shit about the media people consume is for Nazis.
Somehow I feel like it'll still be worth playing at the very reasonable price of 0 dollars
You're telling me a bunch of normie white dudes didn't know how to properly describe the subtleties and nuances of the trans experience? Nor did they think to even ask?
:shocked-pikachu:
We recognize the controversial nature of this post, but we do not grant it the rank of struggle session.
i am very good at causing just enough chaos, but not enough to actually cause any lasting damage.
Not even chapos are immune to internet media discourse brain.
Lots of people hear "this thing has problematic elements" and jump to interpreting that statement as "this thing is utter garbage, and if you enjoy it you're a terrible person." And then they either get mad at that strawman opinion if they like the thing being criticized, or spread the strawman opinion if they don't like it.
There is a very easy way to counter it though: just don't be a bellend, simple
The sexualization of trans people without actually trans representation is definitely problematic.
The thing is the game was written by cis people, and even the best meaning cis libs can't help but do trans "representation" that's just like "Hello protagonist, I am [name], but oh, I used to be [deadname] and this is a painful secret past for me, which I am telling you immediately and unprompted on meeting you for the first time. This message repeats." and that's it, that's the whole character and the whole story. I'd rather see crass sexualization in a world where trans people obviously exist and that's it there's no more exploration or focus than that, rather than one where cis writers try to bring modern bigotry and trauma they don't understand in any real way into the story.
I've talked before about how a big thing with cyberpunk as a genre is that what it's really selling the consumer is a sort of heavily commodified fantasy of agency in a world that's just a worse, more excessive version of our own hellworld. Cyberpunk is fundamentally a very lib sort of anticapitalism, because it's recognizing that things suck but also presenting them as inevitable and selling you the only feeling of agency and identity you're allowed in that framework. And in that understanding of the genre, just presenting a world where things are still fucking terrible but being trans is unremarkable and doesn't make you a target for abuse is more important than trying to engage critically with modern bigotry since it's ultimately a commodified escapist fantasy, not real social commentary.
And no matter what it's still going to be better than, say, GTAO where NPC's literally scream transphobic slurs at you regularly.
The thing is the game was written by cis people, and even the best meaning cis libs can’t help but do trans “representation” that’s just like “Hello protagonist, I am [name], but oh, I used to be [deadname] and this is a painful secret past for me, which I am telling you immediately and unprompted on meeting you for the first time. This message repeats.” and that’s it
The only decent trans character i've come across in a AAA game is Krem in DA:I
I'm cis so i may not have picked up on some red flags, but he seemed fantastically written to meI've heard about that, but I don't think I played long enough to see Krem more than once or so so I don't actually know how his story played out.
I guess my bigger point was just that I'm extremely cynical about cis writers writing trans characters and that I'm perfectly happy to be sold (well not literally, I don't have $60 to burn on a game and if I did I'd spend it on cheap liquor and still pirate Cyberpunk because I can pirate Cyberpunk, but I can't pirate bottom shelf alcohol) an escapist fantasy where I can play an objectively trans character and no one in-universe makes any sort of deal about that whether big or small.
I guess my bigger point was just that I’m extremely cynical about cis writers writing trans characters
Considering the absolute train wreck most trans "representation" in AAA games is, i am too lol
Mass effect andromeda comes to mind
"I came to another galaxy to escape my deadname... it's Dave btw" (paraphrased)an escapist fantasy where I can play an objectively trans character and no one in-universe makes any sort of deal about that whether big or small.
That's pretty much my opinion when it comes to bi representation, just make it a normal thing and i'm happy
Mass effect andromeda comes to mind
Yeah, my "Hello protagonist..." thing was directly written with that one in mind lol.
i have no clue why, like is objectively bad. the game was shipped out with a shit ton of glitches (not to shit on the qa team or anything, more like the higher ups were being fucking assholes and overworked these people and made them ship out an unfinished prdouct. then go on to force out a shitty day one patch to fix all the issues they could have earlier if they just pushed it back like a week or so), like 3 skyrims worth lmao. there's also like a vr section of the game where your character is hit with a bunch of red and blue flashing lights, like the kind that triggers epileptic seizures. i watched that portion and it made my head hurt and i dont even have epilepsy lmao. and all that isn't even touching on the blantant transphobia in the game
Yeah not sure how they pushed the epilepsy stuff. I'm not in game dev, but we have epilepsy checks as part of our QA process.
I don't think it's fair to say it has 3 Skyrim's worth of glitches yet, Skyrim was also a complete mess on launch. As was Fallout. Same goes for many other games that are well remember which is why some might disagree with calling it "objectively bad"
i mean from what ive seen, the driving in the game is literally like a step up from that shitty ass big rigs game, which is kinda concerning considering its a triple a game where driving is a big part of the core gameplay. i'd show you a clip but cdpr keeps dmcaing footage of it
I haven't seen any footage of the game so I don't doubt you. The Witcher 3 was a broken mess on launch and I think the combat sucked, so I enjoyed it mainly for the characters and story.
It was also made under brutal crunch but lib g*mers don't want to talk about that because they don't actually care about workers
g*mers :angry-hex:
edit: lmao instant downvote on OP. :le-pol-face:
i mean i guess? but they dont even let you choose pronouns and its literally like "do u want boobs or chest and do u want dick or pussae". and honestly u could just that for like every game as well lol
it's based on what voice you pick i think, female voice = she/her pronouns
not ideal but still a lot better than pretty much every other game imo, the only game i can think of that does it better is saints row
TFW the game that came out in 2013 has better trans rep than a game developed in 2020 and set in the literal future
I'm just saying that seeing as there's basically no game with good trans representation, criticising cyberpunk for it is a bit redundant lol
they're setting a game in the future where people are free to hack their bodies an they couldn't include a nonbinary pronoun? That's weak. It doesn't even make sense in setting and actively takes away from it imho
If this was GTA or something i wouldn't' be surprised. But self-experimentation with your body is a huge part of the cyperpunk genre, actively leaving gender experimentation out doesn't make sense at all.
Saints Row is a parody game meant to be goofy, so I'm not sure how much of a win that is.
And yet they still had better trans rep than a game that is supposed to be serious, was developed 7+ years later, and is set in 2077. The bar is on the floor, lol
I at first read it as "trains" and it got me thinking: why is it always flying cars in the future but never flying trains? Then two seconds later... ah, they're called airplanes.
Airplanes are flying buses, not trains. I will die on this hill.
Not much chance of dying on it considering theres a plane manufacturer literally called Airbus
It's pretty easy to explain. You can't be trans if you don't have a brain. If you have a brain, it's obvious that this game is lame.
Everything I've seen is that game is decent, but not groundbreaking. Like it's just another RPG. But there's a shit ton of bugs.
