Reddit always loves to act like the smartest mother fuckers on earth but you literally cannot be sarcastic without having to SPECIFICALLY denote it with a /s or else you just get flooded in downvotes by dense mother fuckers. But here? I can be as sarcastic as I damn well please and never have to worry about it because I know that people here are smart enough to actually get sarcasm and I don't have to go out of my way to make sure my sarcasm is blatantly obvious

cool and good website

It's because it's difficult to convey sarcasm in a medium like Reddit where you have a range of diverse and valuable viewpoints, whereas here we have an echo chamber where there is strict adherence to particular ways of understanding the world.

Keep in mind though, despite the old sub mocking people for using /s tags, they are actually very helpful for your autistic comrades. I mean I specifically have very little trouble reading sarcasm, has never been a part of autism that I've experienced. But I've talked to autistic people who feel that /s tags are a life saver.

I don't think they should be required or anything. But I think its a good bit of perspective to keep in mind.

I get it, but I'm Autistic too but I still can figure out what sarcasm is

And I know damn well that Redditors don't put /s to help autistic people

And I know damn well that Redditors don’t put /s to help autistic people

Oh definitely not lol. Never meant to imply that.

I just put “sweaty” at the end of my sarcastic bits and it seems to do the trick

If you think reddit is bad at this, the donald dot win is way worse. They have no ability to detect any irony at all and are constantly getting angry at each other, getting defensive, and apologizing for the misunderstanding. I think its the age

Yeah but why would I ever comment anything there beyond "trump is dumb and so are you lolz"? At least reddit has some half bearable subreddits that make it worth using

I saw a reddit comment in /r/politics yesterday that was like,

I’m sure McConnell has perfectly good reasons for blocking the stimulus vote. He has a pretty good track record of putting the American people first. /s

Guys I made sure I put the sarcasm in bold so you knew I was being sarcastic with this comment.

Literally everyone that post in r/politics is either Jennifer Rubin, Liz Warren staffers, Clinton Project staffers, Neera Tanden, one of the pod jons, or one the Lincoln Project guys.

Or just every employee at MSNBC

Or your average redditor who happens to browse reddit while working in Langley.

This also goes for real life. A lot of times at work I'll say something very obviously sarcastically and people will take me completely seriously...and it's just like bruh
