I think this is the big thing. These people come to QAnon with notions already firmly in their head that Clinton (and basically every Democratic politician, every university professor, teachers union leaders, you get the idea) is evil incarnate and Trump is a great man. The idea that Clinton is some master pedo enabler just dovetails really well into their existing beliefs. They don't actually care about kids, they just like having some pre-packaged community that reinforces and turbocharges their fantasies about their "enemies".

I think they believed that he was playing double agent, getting info and material ready to uncover and uproot the whole cabal. I'm not sure how much they believe that now, but I'm sure most would ignore Trump's involvement either way.
In my experience, they say "if Trump did this, he has to go", but provide a different standard of evidence for him. Like, it has to be 100% mathematically impossible for him to have not done anything with any children, in any conceivable universe, whereas with Democrats, their gut feeling is enough.
They don't actually care about the children. The children are a prop to push their shitty views and their side of the culture wars without looking petty.
Besides what I already commented, people just block whatever they don't want to believe. They just can convince themselves of anything no matter how deranged. I've never gotten anything like a straight answer as to why Clinton gets off scot free for being married to a rapist and probably a child rapist, but she does. I think some people are just no good.
