The group of frothing media-obsessed shitlibs was created with Trump, then heightened with COVID, then heightened again against China and now it’s reached its peak. They’ve kept snowballing this group of media hysterics from topic to topic

Right they spent 4 years lying to the american people that not only was Trump put in the white house, hand picked, by Putin, but also that Russia was responsible for all our woes. It feels like this is the end result of those 4 years of non-stop propaganda.

Also lefties fell for the TRUMP IS AN ACTUAL NAZI hyperbole, and by association for them Putin is an actual Nazi (because Putin and Trump are identical and on the same team obviously).

Putin is not a Nazi, he has grandparents killed by Nazis and has repeatedly discussed how he loathes them. He may be corrupt, rightwing and capitalist but he is not a fascist or a Nazi, and that equivocation is helping libs believe they are fighting on the righteous side with Ukraine

Also lefties fell for the TRUMP IS AN ACTUAL NAZI hyperbole

There was a lot of hysteria here, but there was also legitimately a rebirth of fascist activity and no effort made by the administration to restrain it. Assuming the worst about the state of the Empire is something I have trouble faulting leftists for.

Problem is, a lot of this was coopted into "vote blue no matter who" horseshit. Like, you cannot reconcile the idea of Trump as an ideologically committed fascist and think that he will be defeated by Pelosi ripping a piece of paper in half. On the other hand, many people (myself, anyway) recognized that shit was heating up and the response from the "left" (liberals) was woefully insufficient. Watching the Democrats retake the House of Representatives then sit on their fucking hands after calling Trump an existential threat to democracy was incredibly radicalizing in itself.

Calling him an actual fascist rings hollow when the two loudest groups shouting that he was a Nazi were establishment Democrats and “leftists” who vote blue for “harm reduction”.

The former got into power and did fuck all to combat Trump or reverse his policies or even mitigate them. The latter then covered up for Blue MAGA and started making excuses for them, and never pushed them to hard to reverse the “fascism” of Trump’s policies.

Hard to take either group seriously after that. In retrospect it was hyped up cynically to get democrat votes in the midterm. And I’m not faulting the hysterical doomsayers from a moralist perspective, but from a practical one - they did not have a coherent analysis of what Fascism is or what to do about it, and in the long run their alarmist cynical or naive nonsense will only make real fascism harder to call out

Thus empowering someone who, if anything, has introduced far more structural fascism over his political career than Trump did. Wee hoo! 😒

I keep telling the libs: "Look, draw your line; voice your criteria. Either Trump and Biden are both fascists, or neither are. You really can't produce honest criteria that allows you to have it both ways." Makes lots of them very, very mad, obviously.

Yeah I never really bought into Trump being a nazi either myself. Racist reactionary asshole who panders to actual nazis in his base? Sure, but I never thought he was a true believer. I pretty much think the same of Putin as well. I mean, I want to take him at his word, at face value, and believe he's honestly trying to take out neo-nazis in Ukraine.

Putin purged the far right elements within Russia a couple years ago, a ton of rightwing orgs had to go underground and unofficial because of political persecution. This doesn’t seem like the actions of a Nazi. If he panders, he panders to Soviet boomers with Stalin nostalgia

Right. I remember someone in one of these megathreads talking about the Russia boomers who still have so much nostalgia for the union and hate fascists.

there's two old people in the last Patrick Lancaster vid from the DPR who are exactly that

"the whole world is not enough for you Americans?"

Hmm. What about Dugin? People keep bringing him up. He certainly does seem to be an open Nazbol and influential within Russian politics, but that's about all I know. I don't really care all that much as I don't see much reason to focus on anything but the U.S./NATO end as someone living in the U.S., but it does seem to bring some question to the honesty of Putin's claims to be opposed to fascism....

Here he is talking about his parents and grandparents in the Great Patriotic War. His family was at Leningrad for part of it.

            https://www.jpost.com/international/comparing-soviet-union-to-nazi-germany-now-illegal-in-russia-672821

He made it illegal to compare the USSR to Nazi Germany, clearly showing he is at least to the left of the average western Liberal who claims they are identical and believe in horseshoe theory

There’s more but it’s hard to find because searches are flooded with deboonking articles about Putin de-nazifying the ukraine.
