:biden-troll: "My fellow americans it's time to end the era of endless wars."

"The era of constantly reoccurring periodical wars has dawned on the United States of America."

I almost have to wonder at this point if Trump was technically better than Biden. Not that both of them wouldn't get the wall obviously, but fr.

It seems that Trump supporters were actually correct that Hillary would have started a war with Russia, they weren’t exaggerating. Trump’s election only delayed the Democrats’ plan a couple years

Only thing the Chuds were wrong about was the casus belli for the war. Most thought it would be about Syria, since destablizing and destroying the Middle East seems to be a particularly cruel hobby of Hillary's. I honestly thought that NATO would end up in a war based on Hunter Biden or Don Jr., since failsons starting a war seemed like a sufficiently far out there theory for me to get entertained, just that I had no fucking clue where the war would take place, since any direct confrontation between America / NATO and Russia/China would be suicide, so it'd have to be through proxies.

In the past I might say that not increasing oil drilling and tearing up every environmental regulation under the sun would be enough to be technically better than Trump from a long-term survival point of view... but now Biden is approving record levels of oil drilling and as far as I know hasn't reinstated much of anything. Stimulus checks and not being in a proxy war with Russia looking better and better every day, not gonna lie, even if Trump himself didn't have much to do with those.

His foreign policy is better than Biden depending on where you live. Central America was very mixed with most hating him because we have immigrant families, but there were also some who wanted him to win because it meant he would ignore the region.

I'd say the situation may be different in Asia where he was more aggressive. Biden seems to be a lot more active in Europe and Africa, along with South America. Central America has thankfully been spared and is only getting lectures and US military, but nothing more than usual.

Trump put the screws to Cuba and made the blockade even harsher, presumably pandering to Florida Republicans. Biden sucks of course because he has done nothing to reverse this (including the absolute nonsense about putting Cuba on the "state sponsors of terrorism" list that was done in the final days of the Trump admin just to make a small problem for Biden), but Trump started it.

Good point. Trump was overall pretty incompetent in his attempts to reel in Central American countries like El Salvador and Costa Rica. Even Guatemala pushed back a little on some things. But then you had Bolsonaro in Brazil and the Bolivian coup.

        "We gotta end gun violence"

        "Ban guns"

"No we need those to overthrow the government in a red terror"

        "Wtf?"

Nobody here has a solution to gun violence that doesn't involve empowering the police.

Improving the material conditions of the citizens would be a start instead of letting the bodies pile up with nothing but thoughts and prayers.

Also when has anyone here advocated for empowering the police :jesse-wtf:

No in Africa the wars we engage in aren't publicized and the admins try to keep out of public discussion.

We've been fucking with Somalia forever. This isn't new. Somalia is merely one of 8 nations America attacked directly or indirectly during the "War on Terror."

Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Somalia, Yemen, and two others I forget.

Wait, why are we doing ops in Somalia? Is it because it's full of Islamists who are within striking distance of trade ships going through the Suez, Islamists in general, or a boondoggle to sell drone missiles to Africom?

Could be something to do with bordering Ethiopia. Could be because they want a presence near the Arabian peninsula and India. Could be more AFRICOM stuff. Could just be the blob seeing an opportunity to get more money while people are distracted with Ukraine, etc. I looked up what crops they have and it mostly seems sheep/animals (like 80%) and some small amounts of maize, wood, and tropical fruits, so it's not like cereal-acquisition.

Somali has really strong ties with the US. A lot of Somali politicians are Americans, Minneapolis is the biggest Somali population outside Mogandishu. And Al-Shabab is a real problem. So the imperialism train goes toot toot.

"To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold millions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods."

Nah, those guys have been dead for 30 years. Somalia still has problems but the days of the warlords are, more or less, over. Now it's the government vs Al-Shabab. I haven't checked in for a few years but I think the government is winning, and generally speaking things are better and more stable now.

Honestly there is very little that would aleviate the chuds in Europe quite like a stable Somalia where all the refugees who have been here since the 90s can be returned to. Especially because Somalis are the most hated people group by far, since they sit in the sweet-spot of being both African and Muslim, which is enough to get them pretty isolated.

        • Frank [he/him, he/him]
          ·

That sucks. Somalis in Minneapolis are an important part of the community. I can't imagine Minneapolis without the Somali diaspora. It wouldn't be the same city, and it'd be worse off for it.

  • Snackuleata [any]

Cool the Europeans will surely be accommodating to the waves of Somali refugees that this move will trigger. We've seen how welcoming to migrants crossing the Mediterranean in boats Europe is. This won't fuel more "Great Replacement" extremism.
