some people have never had the unbearably awkward experience of eating at a hooters as a teenager with an older family member and it shows.

It wasn't at me, it was their righteous crusade against the local tightwad that didn't want it. We have a definite local tightwad issue but stopped clocks etc. Also, Jesus that was like 15 years ago, now I feel old. Cool thing was it was a former pizza hut and has That Roof but they painted it orange.

I'm just permanently surprised that people are still opening these things. one popped up right by my parent's house since I moved out and it's just weird as hell. I guess as pressure is put on the weird misogynist guy to stop being weird and misogynist they're just going to be more and more susceptible to marketing based around sublimating that pressure.

Hopefully it's not closed from Covid. Not much money in it and it's pretty normal for people to touch pretty much everything.

It's just a mindfuck. You're sitting there asking yourself "Where the fuck do I look? Do I try to play off the fact that a half-naked woman is standing right next to me asking if I need an extra napkin for those wings? Do I just stare dead on at her tits and tip generously? Do look at the ceiling and try to stop sweating so profusely? How the fuck am I supposed to act in this place without behaving like a creep?"

I mean, my older relatives decided to visit Vegas when I was 14 and took me with them. I was not ready for what I saw there.

I guess it was before it got cleaned up and sanitized? by the time I went there as a kid it was all pretty tame but just annoying as fuck. idk why we stayed at circus circus but we were right next to a rollercoaster and the room smelled like it was one giant ashtray.

idk if it was before or after but it was too much, in every aspect. i remember the first thing i said was that this is a huge waste of electricity, looking at all the lit-up signs, hotels etc.

We opted to spend most of our time there going out to the hoover dam and that was fun to see the gigantic engineering, it was also funny because they talked about how Las Vegas was a podunk nothing town back when they were contracting how much electricity went where so they barely got any of their electricity from the hoover dam now

There were several restaurant chains based on this concept

They were referred to as "Breasturants"

    Twisted Kilt, Twin Peaks, etc.

A few years back a coworker of mine was trying to hang out with me and another couple people at my office, and suggested going to twisted kilt. I thought it was just some other "Irish" pub place, and agreed at first, but then looked it up...

When I mentioned I had never been there before, he said something like "oh you'll like it", which is what made me google it. To his surprise, I would not have liked it, and would've felt incredibly uncomfortable the entire time.

It's just the strangest thing. Like, if you're gonna suggest something like this, suggest a strip club? I wouldn't wanna go there either but at least it's somehow less weird.

A strip club is definitely less weird lol, the combo of fast food with the whole concept is already gross and sad, the whole thing where it is basically PG and almost pretending it's somehow different and not horny just makes it feel even more like just ordinary sexual harassment. It's a bit hard to express it.

The first time I heard about Hooters was in a film and I genuinely thought it was some sort of parody about the practices of certain food establishments.

But, no, they are a real thing.

And now we have some of them over here. :agony-acid:

Well, the entire point of the restaurant seem to be sexualized waitresses. Not the food nor the location or whatever, but the waitresses. It's the same thing with bare-breasted women at the beach or in paintings, there's a context to thing imo. As you said, it's not a strip club, but that's not really far from it in "spirit". But to each their own opinion, I just don't think Hooters are a place for kids.

What? Hooters is literally a place SPECIFICALLY made to leer at waitresses, that's what they're marketing, wtf does that have to do with going to the beach, what kind of weird fucking comparison is that lol

I remember being one of those kids. Mom had to go too, of course.

I've only been once. Found the whole experience kind of sad. And I was only low-to-mid level woke then. I oogled the girls and all but I didn't really enjoy it. Just a kind of empty experience.

Femboy hooters isn't ironic, it is a perfectly legitimate place to spend the holidays and they offer Covid safe options. Volcels go there too. It is high class.

I spent a summer with my absent father when I was like 14 or 15 and him and a group of his buddies would go to hooters every week and would bring me with them. They'd always order pitchers of beer, wings, and oysters and it was incredibly uncomfortable, especially so when my dad would try to get me to eat oysters and talk really loudly in front of the waitresses about how "eating oysters is just like eating pussy" and I was like "haha yeah ok cool" and then he'd get the waitresses to touch me or sit in my lap or try to pay them to fuck me.

Man I got a lot of childhood trauma.
