Personalised car spaces for school children. Man American car "culture" is awful. Get a fucking bus. Teenagers are not responisble enough to be drivers.

The school would have to pay for a bus, the kids pay for their own cars. :amerikkka:

Yeah, only kids with the special spots get to do this. You have to be considered a "high achiever" to get into the closer parking spots. It's fucking insane.

100% little billy's designation as "high achiever" comes from the fact that his dad is a cop

"Yes, the crooked lines, the jumbled haphazard stars... it's crude vulgarity, profaning what is ostensibly a symbol of freedom, shows us the ugliness of state-sanctioned violence and suggests in its dark twisted depths that the entire apparatus of law enforcement is just a cruel mockery of protection."

I would say the expectation with American teenagers is that they will be allowed to drive to school once they turn 16 and forcing them to ride a bus instead is a major infringement on their freedom...

Half my school was a parking lot that basically generated revenue for insurance companies. There were cops standing by for the inevitable accidents as everyone left at the exact same time and ran into each other. Then the insurance folks would make your premiums skyrocket because you're a kid.

That's not so bad in cities that have decent public transportation, but in the suburbs in rural areas you're only options are a car or a school bus.

Half the time a school bus isn't really an option, I know for me that would've been an extra hour and a half each way

I went to community college attached to a high school for a spring semester. I had some punk ass kid start yelling at me cause I parked in his custom parking spot.

I don’t think he knew what he was up against cause I’m petty AF. I mocked him for having a “custom parking space” and was like damn dude is this like the only think you got going on in your life is your pathetic chalked up space? Then when I left I burned rubber (was driving an old crown Vic cop car at the time) and just fucking thrashed his stupid shit.

At my old school we had 1 kid die in a car accident every year, usually taking a passenger with them. They added 2 parking lots while I attended there.

Busses aren't a realistic option at a lot of American high schools, I know I couldn't have made it through high school on the busses

I mean when I was in high school my options where A) walk halfway to my school to get on a public transport bus, which would've added ~2 hours of walking time, mostly without sidewalks, and would involve crossing a highway, and I'd have to get up a few hours earlier to get the right stop B) I could've taken the school bus which would've added about an hour and a half to my morning commute just because of the way it was set up (not enough busses, you had to fit a bunch of people 3 to a seat when they were designed for 2 C) I could have walked the whole way, ~3 hours, again no sidewalks + crossing a highway or D) I could drive

      I chose D

Lot of high schools in suburban areas have gigantic parking lots for juniors and seniors and parents that are separated from faculty parking. At a lot of these, you can buy or win a space that you can decorate in exchange for donating to a school group. I think my school gave them away with a lottery you donated into that went to some different things.

The place I went to had about a twentieth the number of parking spots as it did students who could drive, so when they became available, they were pretty much gone in the blink of an eye lol
