The last year they've been going non-stop with the anti-China shit. Now they're dropping all pretext and are just running stories like "So when we gonna start war with China, fwends? UwU"

I don't care what you think about China. This shit is stupid. We don't need war in the middle of a pandemic, even if it just ends up being a trade war. We'd lose that war. Call me a paranoid freak but this kind of shit terrifies me.

Remember when Chen Weihua tweeted how he wondered what Pelosi would call the Capitol riots since she called the Hong Kong protests a "Beautiful sight"? One of my local news stations said that China called the Capitol riots a "beautiful sight". The propaganda machine is moving forward, full steam ahead.

Conveniently ignore why Chinese netizens used the very specific phrase "a beautiful sight". There's definitely no reason to look into why they could possibly all be using the exact same verbiage as if maybe it was a direct reference to something.

It's honestly so depressing. It's fucked up that the whole "did corona escape from a Chinese bioweapon lab?" thing is being discussed by reputable news sources, and all the discussion is like "there is no evidence in either direction, but what if..." I feel like we are at the point where you could make any claim about the monstrous things China is doing and most people would at least strongly suspect that it is true.

There's also no way to have like, any form of nuanced discussion with fucking anyone when the word China comes up. If the person leans towards conservative they lose their fucking minds and start foaming about how China is the literal devil and out to destroy the entire world and controls every politician like a puppet and needs to be nuked. If the person is any form of liberal they immediately into a tirade about how coronavirus must have been made as a bioweapon because China arrested the guy who first reported it or something, and also needs to be nuked.

It's like the only people who don't wanna see China nuked are leftists and even that depends on the person.

I've been in near shouting matches for suggesting that maybe those articles that mention Covid-19 antibodies in Spain and Italy back in September might lend credence to the anecdotes of people who got knock out sick in the fall before anyone had even heard of Covid, and makes a bit more sense to me personally than apparently one dude eating tainted bat meat in a relatively obscure (to the West anyway) Chinese city and somehow spreading that worldwide within a month.

I just turn it back around, being up the theory that its from a US lab, got out and blended in as flu like symptoms in late 2019 inside the US til it reached China, then china identified the new virus. It explains why the US is doing so dogshit at containing it, cuz its been around longer and spread further than they will ever tell us. Comparisons to the 1918 Spanish flu are apt when making this argument, it also came from the US and was first reported on by and blamed on a different country. The reasons the US wasnt honest even line up in both spots, in 1918 the US didnt want to appear weak in the middle of WW1 so the government ignored it, in 2020 Trump didnt want to appear weak for his re-election so his government ignored it.

Hitler didn't invade Russia in the Winter. After years of preparation, Operation Barbarossa (the invasion of Russia) commenced in the middle of June 1941. The problem for Germany was, Russia is so goddamn big that they could keep on pulling back without being forced into a decisive battle, and as the months passed, the supply lines grew longer, and the days grew colder and shorter, it ultimately turned into a quagmire. The same thing happened to Napoleon. The French began their invasion of Russia in the latter days of June as well.

From my understanding though, the Germans had no choice (aside from, you know, keeping to themselves and not being a genocidal menace to humanity). They needed the USSR's oil resources to sustain their war machine, otherwise their war effort would prove hopeless.

The world population is estimated to be 7.8 billion. China's population is estimated to be 1.4 billion. That would make China 17% of the world population. The US for comparison makes up 4% of the world population.

I hate all of it. I'm going to incoherently ramble for a bit because I have strong feelings here.I hate the smugness the average person seems to have about which TV news they imbibe. I sincerely hate the absolute mind virus delusion of FoxNews, but that's probably because I'm surrounded by such reactionaries. I haven't yet had the liberty of being around typical American liberals much.

It's like a light dims in people's eyes. I hate seeing it. Their soul drains out of their body. These are people who are so human, so lively, will behave normally and I'll start to feel a connection with them, then something will flip them. I don't want to say it's like that stupid NPC meme the internet reactionaries use, but I don't know what else to compare it to. Something about China, something about Joe Biden, something about transgender people, anything to trip their sensors. "China's a dictatorship that should be bombed" "The mainstream media is the propaganda wing of the Democrat Party." "Transgender activists are threatening our way of life" "The gay agenda" "Black privilege" "White people should be able to say the n-word" "Muslims are ignorant."

It's like clockwork. It's machinery. They say the most utterly vile shit as if it's nothing and don't even recognize that anything could be upsetting. They live in a realm of entertainment. It's sports to them. How am I supposed to even be around people when I know there's a good 50% chance something like that will come out of them. I try to be forgiving but it's entirely depressing me. I'm tired.

Other way around is probably more accurate. The Democrats are in part the bureaucratic wing of the mainstream media, since the media is the propaganda arm of the bourgeoisie. Although that's not even what reactionaries mean. They mean they saw a gay person on TV and got pissed off

You're eligible to be drafted so long as there is a need and means to draft you. The cream of the crop just tends to be 18-25-year-olds as they're the most physically useful. But like, people well into their 50s and 60s were sometimes drafted or recalled during WWII. Shit, SOCOM has the ability to consult and retain civilian expertise during "peacetime." It's all down to what the military needs.

China’d win in the way that Vietnam won. The Yanks would be forced to go home, but it’d be devastating for China, with thousands if not millions of deaths and a severely harmed economy.

I disagree with this take. I think both sides will refrain from striking hard at each other's homelands (because a conventional missile looks the same as a nuclear missile in flight) so most of the war will be fought out at sea or via a blockade.

I question whether the blockade is feasible for America since China makes most of their shit, but a naval war is probably much more evenly matched than the Vietnam War. China has put lot of time and energy into developing incredibly advanced antiship weapons and arguably has ships that beat the USN on a one on one qualitative basis.

Our current military is designed around the sole purpose of beating and terrorizing impoverished 3rd world countries into submission. Going to war with an actual competent country would be nearly impossible. What I actually see happening is the are turning China into the new USSR and then going to use thst red scare to target other countries like Venezuela.

Yeah there's a reason I don't really watch "news" channels. The local ones are basically empire propaganda, plus an occasional puppy parade, plus "homelessness, let's talk about how much it's hurting small business nimby's who are the same people who have prevented new housing and shelters for them being built", and lately specials on "the covid crisis means many can't pay rent, let's talk to some land parasites about how this is hurting them", so basically infuriating. Oh also a side of "orange man is rude and therefore bad" which I suspect will shortly become "Biden-man not rude and therefore wholesome 100".

If the re-education is that necessary, you don't need camps, just massive promotion of union membership and complete destruction of the existing media empires (or, even better, just take them over forcefully and change the propaganda narrative yourself). After that is when you start doing re-education primarily through mandatory, free schooling with a stipend. Then after that you do more aggressive tactics.

Yeah, then some part of the population is so indoctrinated that they refuse to attend education, which necessitates that they are detained somewhere while educated so that...

That's what the last part (more aggressive tactics) was for, everything prior is voluntary. There's no need to possibly make people hate you if they will change their thinking with free higher education and less imperialist media. The ones that are really dug in are the ones that are actively sent to re-education schools.

Sending every liberal and child off to a camp on day one is a dumb idea because it'll just make everyone hate you as that's like 70% of the population lol.

Also, by "mandatory higher education" I meant mandatory in the same way highschool is mandatory, not like you're bussed to a compound by armed guards lol.

These reeducation takes are always so extreme. America has a latent radical tradition that could be popular. All you do is platform anti consumerist Catholics, pro nature protestants, the communist shop steward everyone goes to. You air old Dr. King speeches. You make a documentary about the Benjamin Franklin's radical interpretation of democracy. For the indie kids you get the drummer from MCR and Tec9 on to talk about radical politics. Have Muse, Rage Against the Machine, and NWA on every radio station. Turn american culture against itself

            ·

Exactly, you don't start with aggressive re-edication camps, you start with a massive shift in pop-culture and media alongside massive wealth redistribution programs and see who is still clinging to the old ways before you step into mass re-education programs.
