Like, there were no reports about the suspect having a gun, the pig says "let me take point with the rifle", as if a normal handgun somehow wouldn't be enough. Then he just starts shooting IMMEDIATELLY when he sees the guy, doesn't confirm that it is indeed the suspect. The pig shoots him multiple times, then the pigs starts screaming at the dying man to "turn around". The guy they shot could be acting in self-defense, we don't know. The pig just wanted to shoot someone, he couldn't shoot the person already on the ground and bleeding, so he shot the first person he saw standing.

the pig says “let me take point with the rifle”

Shit like this is how modern policing is closer to military training than about "serving the community".

Who actually posts that when there's police killings in the news? Regular bootlickers, or do precincts get their secretaries to make accounts and post?

Unironically, there are a lot of police departments that employ cops solely to do PR for them.

Most police departments have a PR/Marketing person. Larger ones like LAPD have a quite large department, including full-time outreach officers. (This is also true in the UK and Aus, though the B in ACAB displays a bit differently here.)

In the UK the military wing that does this job is called 77th brigade. I believe different police forces each keep their own specialised pr division that outputs such content, so there are a lot of different sources.

Probably similar in the US, particularly with the absurd budgets.

Since slavery is technically illegal now, just call them Proletariat Patrol. They exist to just keep the poor in line.

Slavery is not technically illegal, it's explicitly legal under the 13th amendment, as long as the slaves are imprisoned first.

A shocking number of liberals dont know that even though the amendment explicitly says it- almost as if they don't actually read the documents they claim to uphold.

2018 SPLC survey of 1k high school seniors found that

            • Only 8 percent of high school seniors surveyed can identify slavery as the central cause of the Civil War.
            • Two-thirds (68 percent) don’t know that it took a constitutional amendment to formally end [chattel] slavery.
            • Fewer than 1 in 4 students (22 percent) can correctly identify how provisions in the Constitution gave advantages to slaveholders.

In Middle School, I learned that the Civil War was about slavery.

In High School, I learned that the Civil War wasn't really about slavery.

In college, I learned, yes, the Civil War was about slavery.

Right? Instinct also tells me that the long barrel takes longer to bring onto the target in tight spaces. I wouldn't know - I only shoot at ranges.

yeah for fuck sake- more and more it should be becoming obvious to the average American that the job of police is to shoot people, and even at that they are shit. It's cliche to say now "If I killed someone on the job at my construction site, I'd be at least fired" but like, if I messed up consistently doing the one thing I was supposed to do, regardless of if it's LIFE or DEATH I would be getting fired for that anyway!

Immediately after the shots you hear a high voice screaming. Like how do you have that in the background for the next minute and not notice it? Only one officer even glances in that general direction.

The rifle is definitely a WTF choice (among others). I'm not really an expert in that stuff, but a rifle generally gives you an advantage outdoors where the longer barrel increases your range and accuracy. A handgun will do plenty to stop someone indoors and allows you to be more mobile. You also won't shoot through like 6 walls, and if you end up with some penetration it should make a difference in lethality. This is important to consider when there are civilians around or this exact thing is bound to happen. I can get having a guy with the rifle along with you, but he hangs out in back and takes over if you end up confronting the suspect outside.

Also yeah there's gotta be a manslaughter charge here. No way the cop felt threatened, so all they can go with is "I didn't want him to get away and hurt someone else" which I don't really buy exactly, but will probably be enough to get them off, once again far from an expert here.

(Not so) fun reminder: if the suspect had lived, they would have charged him with felony murder for the death of the girl.

Real life isn't a video game. Handguns are very difficult to shoot accurately, and you are more likely to hit some random person by accident with them. They are also a lot less immediately lethal, and so you need to shoot a lot more to be sure you brought down the target.

That's why you use a shotgun indoors for police work if you aren't a psychopath.

The guy they shot was most definitely not acting in self defense, he was definitely assaulting people for no reason. He wasn’t near anyone when he was shot though, they didn’t yell freeze, and he had no gun or knife. I’m not sure how they confirmed he was the assailant, could have just been a lucky guess

the guy was taking full swings with his bike lock on some poor woman's face, her face was all bloodied up, and there was a trail of blood and the victim was crawling away from the guy. You can blame the cops for being trigger happy, but the guy was not innocent in the slightest. Watching the PR video released by the LAPD, they included one call from a witness that described the assailant as having a gun and shooting, but the majority of calls said he was only using a bike lock, even the cops at the scene said he only had a bike lock.

Would the girl still be alive if that one dipshit didn’t say he had a gun? Doubt it, the cop came eager to shoot with that AR. Went right in front of everyone
