Here's a good laugh: British ex-Army soldier/merc goes to war in Ukraine, gets hit with rockets/helicopter fire, runs scared into the woods, gets picked up by Ukraine Territorial Defense who torture him thinking he's a Russian spy, gets released, immediately goes back home to the UK.

my favorite part was where he complained about how fighting a modern army (Russia) was harder than murdering people that can barely fight back (Iraq and Afghanistan). the only thing that could have topped this off is this limey merc :british-maw: getting yeeted.

They believe the bullshit that Ukraine is 1 day away from winning, show up as international brigades to own the weak Russians then just get blown the fuck up

Guess it's not as easy when you're not fighting civilians with guns and have air superiority. Too bad ghost of kyiv isn't real.

donchaknow, the new bit the ukrainian ultranats are going with to try and save some face is that "The Ghost of Kiev" is a metaphore for the whole Ukranian resistence movement against Russian air superiority, not that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been reduced to a resistence movement nor that Russia has Air superiority over Ukrainian airspace of course.

Lol people use the justification of "So what if it's totally fake propaganda, at least we're boosting Ukraine's morale".

These volunteers just really bit the propaganda of "we're kicking Russian ass! Not even sure why we need volunteers, NATO pls close the skies or volkssturm we're winning so hard!". I knew we were going to get some funny articles popping up about the "volunteers", the volunteer subreddit is a goldmine. There were threads like "I'm overweight and never shot a gun, but i want to do my part to fight for democracy and freedom, will they take me?". This isn't massacring innocent people in the middle east, this is an actual army and when you get blasted with artillery you can't just respawn.

Also what happens if you get disabled from war in a foreign country as a volunteer? I don't believe you're entitled to anything like the regular armed forces are.

I mean, technically, you may have done "illegal" shit at best and "war crime shit" at worst. So, depending on which country's jail you get sent to maybe their medical care will be super great.

"Urgh, the respawn timer here sucks. Oh, hello, the primordial chaos from which we come and will all return to. What are you doing here?"

            • My hangover brain thought this was funny.
