Contrapoints arguing with John Mccain's daughter over how using proper pronouns isn't communism because communists historically terrorized the LGBT community, therefore republicans should support trans rights to own the commies.

Edit: oh mine gott my brain is spasming from reading this right after I finish writing it

I think another big part is that shit is getting really bad. Capitalism has effectively been discredited for most young people, they just have no idea what it is and what any alternatives are. If she presents herself as a radical or leftist, she can be like... the Vaush of MSNBC, shepherding people away from actual radicalism.

Liberation for trans people does not fit neatly into the boxes neoliberalism would like. You have to contend with the fact through colonialism and all that came with it, imperialists forced their culture on most of the world and as a result often destroyed any transgender history that existed therein. People like to talk about how trans people are a modern phenomenon when in reality across the world through all cultures there were trans people, it's just through imperialism that these groups were destroyed and forced to be forgotten. The reason people think it's a new thing is because the people that hated trans people already destroyed huge swathes of our history. She's not going to bring this up, she's not going to bring up how in our daily lives transphobia is displayed through the most mundane of aspects to cis people.

To truly have trans liberation you need to go to the core of how our society functions for the stereotypical white family. A mom and a dad raising two children where the father is socialized to not express himself and not partake in household chores as he goes to work and the mother remains at home as a domestic slave with her only influence being the rearing of the children being socialized to ignore her own needs in favor of her children's. Why do we gender children at birth even though we know there's a section of the population that is harmed by such practices? Why do we have to socialize children based on their gender, the girl toys are focused around nurturing and are often obnoxiously pink, while boy toys are centered around violence.

Our society would need to radically view gender in a different light which would require literal 180 degree turns on a huge chunk of absolutely fundamental aspects to what is considered cultural norms at this point that it would require significant revolutionary action to achieve, something Contrapoints is not advocating for. She might press a bit harder on the establishment to adjust some of their practices, but fundamentally she sees trans liberation as a possibility under neoliberalism despite the fact that it simply is not. There will be concessions but like Lenin said, the capitalist powers will take revolutionary heroes and whitewash them, name some streets after them, erect a few statues, but in the process will completely defang their original message. For trans people this means a continuation of the society that inevitably harms us and without a fundamental shift will continue to hurt people.

Contrapoints being interviewed by Hillary “Democrats seem to be going out of their way to lose elections by elevating activist causes, notably the transgender debate, which are relevant only to a small minority” Clinton (and yes that’s a direct quote)

    Hope she made it count

Some more Hillary Clinton quotes on trans people:

I do think there is a legitimate concern about women’s lived experience and the importance of recognizing that, and also the importance of recognizing the self-identification [of trans people]

There are women who'd say [to a trans woman], ‘You know what, you've never had the kind of life experiences that I've had, so I respect who you are, but don't tell me you're the same as me.’

Reading through these interviews, it’s also pretty clear that the writers are cleaning up her quotes for her. She refers to “woman” and “trans woman” as mutually exclusive categories. I guarantee she’s referred to “the transgenders” at some point. Regardless it’s complete TERF shit

Wishful thinking lol. Contrapoints will only become more useful for the DNC crowd that needs someone to straddle a certain line, but still have that veneer of leftism. Ex 4chan user turned trans that is "converting" reactionaries has incredible use value

Yeah. Also had a YT channel that was banned for bigotry and racism. Definitely has come a long way since that, so I don't think it's useful to see her in that light. But there's still a tinge of reactionary thought underneath all the beautifully done set pieces

No, I think I know what you mean. Technically v*ush is breadtube. The radlib aesthetic and hating the government is a popular sentiment. Everyone hates the government, it's easy. It seems like if people are willing to dig beyond the surface of why the government sucks is when they'll move on

I didn't say it was good, I said it was meaningful, that's why a lot of people overlook her shit opinions. Seeing someone basically transition via YouTube was hugely influential for a ton of people, including a closeted alcoholic me, she isn't internet famous for nothing. Alison's article on it is alright, I remember reading it a while back and thinking it was driving a little too hard at trying to simplify multiple complex phenomena into a single idea.
