But also if Stalin wore a fancy suit it would show how out of touch he is with the common populace and proven that the communist were really just capitalists-animal-farm-some-animals-more-equal-CPSU-drank-all-the-booze

I watched some of the video because you can't judge a video just by the title. In the video, he says that the Soviet Union was "failed socialism". Then he says that the Soviet Union spread their "failed socialism" to poor countries by offering poor countries resources and training. He says that the only real socialism was Revolutionary Catalonia and Makhnovshchina, and he blames the Soviet Union for destroying these places.

The video seems to be made by an anti-ML anarchist guy. I don't really have any further comments because I don't want to be sectarian or upset anarchists. I will just say that I don't agree with the video.

Weird anarcho-trot idealism soup there, just that this guy hasn't learned the terms "d*generated/deformed worker state" yet.

its 4channer lingo, comes from schizophrenic programmer Terry Davis of TempleOS fame, who often said things like "CIA <slur>s glow in the dark"

online anarchists are usually young, just getting into radical left politics. They've been fed anti-communists propaganda all their lives, so they still have shitlib brainworms. They think they are against the state, but they are still spewing state department propaganda against countries that US are hostile towards.

Socialism is when your followers go around the countryside killing ethnic minorities and communists and you never really do anything about it

Yeah my b :shrug-outta-hecks: I try not to be sectarian and there is a lot of anarchist theory I agree with, but to call Makhnovshchina the only example of socialism is preposterous because they didn't control their own industrial production, survived military conflicts due to the larger engagement of the whites and reds, and were too disorganized on a larger scale to ever stand as a stable state, much less a truly socialist one, in the face of encroaching capitalist powers.

I remember I originally read about it on this site, but I'd need to dig for a source. If I find it I'll update, but as always I could always use more sources because these details tend to get murky

I should also add that as far as I'm aware, Makhno himself was not antisemitic (although the more I read about him, the more my opinion of him sours), but at a peak size of 30,000, Makhnovists were largely unorganized, and some groups committed hate crimes, and Makhno did not do enough to stop such occurences. I have also heard that some of them were infiltrators from other factions, and other murders were committed by said parties.

Gotta read widely on this one. Liberals, commies, and anarchists all have their fair share of bad takes on Makhno.

This is a decent place to start, but I gotta emphasize, read widely: https://libcom.org/article/russian-anarchists-and-civil-war-paul-avrich

If it's a rando idk I don't usually waste my time unless it's actually recommended to me by someone I trust has good judgment. Too much crap on YouTube I've regretted even giving 5 minutes to

In China, you vote for totalitarian party member to represent you. In US, you vote for freedom party member to represent you. See, the difference is huge.

It sucks how much the narrative has become that the USSR insideously sabotaged the Republican war effort (for some reason) by providing them with by far the most material aid.

Don't ask people mad about the "Soviet betrayal" in the SCW who's tanks, fighter planes, bombers, and brave soldiers helped ensure not a single fascist stepped foot into Madrid between October to November of 1936.

Like you want to talk about ¡No Pasarán! ? Why not mention how people like Tank Commander Lieutenant Semyon Osadchy and Tank Commander Leutenant Alexei Razgulyaev, who had cojones so big that after long drawn-out fights and being left with the choice between choosing surrendering or retreating to fascist forces they chose to ram their fucking tanks into the fascists and take their tanks with them to the afterlife.

There is a rich, and extremely unexamined historical side of the SCW that's been marginalized or outright ignored. It has great lessons to draw from in both the positive and negative.

Hey remember that time when Iranian PM Mohammad Mossadegh tried to go against Western interests and the CIA took control of virtually every media company in the country to spout propaganda, hired people to march in the street against him (and "for" him, while being as awful as possible), bribed religious leaders, members of parliament, vote counters, and anyone else who would take their money, all while the country was suffering immense poverty due to a blockade and a long history of exploitation, and Mossadegh did basically nothing to crack down or solidify power because of his firm belief in liberal democratic ideals like :freeze-peach:?

Fortunately, it turned out that idealism is correct so the CIA failed to oust him because of how morally correct he was which is why Iran remains a shining beacon of freedom and democracy to this day.
