Yeah it's kinda weird cause it feels like they guy didn't have any actual ties to any orgs, so it's hard to get a fix on what he's exactly about. Unless that's been elaborated on in the past couple weeks.

      Also was the chud armed?

Anyway there's just an odd lack of enthusiasm and the left isn't really rallying around the guy. Also it's super on brand for Trump to casually say the quiet part in a normal everyday tone.

It really shouldn't matter if people felt like he was still new or whatever, he got murdered by the state without any chance at a trial. Even if you think he was killer himself, you should still be pissed off over this.

        It's horrifying.

Oh I don't disagree at all, but for me it's hard to get really pissed when it's exactly what I'd expect the cops to do. Like yeah, they're fascists

It's the sort of thing you should stand for because there is no argument against the fact that he was murdered by the state without a trial.

        Also was the chud armed?

it looked like the chud who got killed and his friend were roleplaying crowd control by shooting paintballs at protesters from a moving truck, and then later Reinoehl met them face-to-face. the guy who he killed was spraying mace at him, and one of the two rightists was wielding a metal baton. not sure if they still had the paintball gun when it happened.

No, Trump was bragging about Michael Reinoehl being killed. He's the guy who killed that Patriot Prayer member in Portland.

Isn't it cool living in a country where my partner has to call me from their workplace bathroom out of fear of a customer wearing a maga hat with a 14 words face mask, acting erratic and fidgeting with something in his pocket, knowing you can't call the police because they're likely to support whatever this goober is planning to do.

It's equally cool that this dude came into a place that's knowingly and openly frequented by marginalized people, just to get some kind of reaction. Man, love living in fucking fear of being murdered for existing every day.

I saw a video online of some Turkish soldiers executing two militant female kurds that they captured. Just the worst shit is going on there, and the fact that Cuba has more economic sanctions than Turkey is extremely fucked up

Yeah turkey is like Israel in that, even if the current nation there was something else, it's too geopolitically important to the west that they'd create something in it's place.

The access to the black sea means you never want to be on the wrong side of turkey.

I don't know if this is true in 2020, but I am absolutely convinced that in the 1990s, if Evangelicals could have gotten away with a mass genocide of American LGBT folks... they definitely would have gone along with that shit. Back then the rhetoric in churches was absolutely insane, and it never got the public attention it should have because even non-evangelicals by and large had some pretty bad views about LGBT issues back then, too. But the pure, unvarnished hatred I saw in church in the 90s still sticks with me.

I don't know if I entirely buy the Clinton admin argument that if they didn't pass this bill then there would be been a successful constitutional amendment in it's wake. Just the idea that you can mobilize voter turnout on the premise that the other guys are going to be too friendly to the gays is very weird to me.

But the Bush administration tried to advance a constitutional amendment in 2004 right after Massachusetts legalized gay marriage and the supreme court decision around sodomy laws in 2003 lawrence v texas, which massively boosted their base turnout in his reelection and gay marriage was overturned in fucking California by popular vote in 2009.

It's truly insane how rapidly all this shit has changed. I think the deep hatred towards anything evangelical christian liberals in the US have explains a lot of this stuff when contrasted against european countries.

They absolutely did, and it was intentional. With the way that Covid is being handled, there could be an argument that a genocide is happening in the U.S. right now, to a certain extent.

I was talking to a friend about this and that with the rise of the internet and things like early new atheism (which has very weirdly become much more fash over time), stemmed from a deep rejection of everything evangelicals stand for.

We ended up agreeing that one of the big reasons the US is less terfy than the UK is that they don't associate their biggotry with anything religion related, and liberal american values are more than anything else an explicit rejection of anything evangelical related.

We've never been far from mass violence or genocide or ethnic cleansing. 20th and 21st century domestic politics have been the same reactionary arguments over and over with new actors and occasionally changing out subjects. The authoritarian streak in the American public is strong (hate to get nu-atheisty but pretty much because of American Protestantism).

You're right, and I think the streak in getting stronger and a lot of it is from American Protestantism. "New" atheism or whatever you want to call it definitely has it's cringey and outright very bad aspects, but IMO they're more right about stuff than a lot of folks here admit.

Here in Mexico something really funny with the Cheese companies happend, they were given a notice six months ago about a few chemicals they wouldnt be allow to put in procesed cheese anymore, plus they had errors in their packages like saying a product had 400 grams of cheese instead of the 200 grs it actually had.

fast foward to today the goverment got angry and through their agency of profeco they named all the brand that had broken code and were harmfull and dishonest to consumers, that was 2 days ago and now the companies spokepersons are saying this was an abuse of power and they shouldnt have been punish this ways by the evil bureaucrats and their companies are suffering injustly during the pandemic.

also their products that have been suspended and they cant no longer be sold its been really funny

the controversy didnt even hit most of the companies, really just Lala, philadelfia and esmeralda were the most afected however these ones are like over 50 of the market, the thing is most small cheese companies and Lala´s biggest rival werent afected by the suspention so the companies afected are claiming that the goverment was influence by the non afected cheese companies,

Had a family dinner last night, mums partner and sisters BF discussing presidential election and this came up “I don’t trust Biden but I feel like as an African American woman Kamala Harris could be a progressive voice for his administration.” to which I just about threw up on the table, but managed to get in the following convo:

“Just like Obama right? Do we still think skin colour influences policy?”

    “But Obama wasn’t that ba..”

“Expanding the drone wars and bailing out corrupt bankers during the worst recession in the last decades wasn’t that bad?”

“But George Bush and the republicans started that and were much worse.”

“So now our standards for presidents are based on the actions of past war criminals?”

Stunned silence as the libs realise the corner they’ve just backed themselves into, Cue good old mum interrupting to save the day before I reveal my true power level and start advocating to dismantle the state and workers revolution. A totally inconsequential interaction but I can only hope maybe next time they think twice to voice support of corporate Dems. Gotta take those tiny victories where you can get them I guess ...

Edit: oh and of course then everyone stood up and cheered! + another lib hot take “Bernie wouldn’t be able to beat Trump.” 🙄

Haha trust me I was still coming up with “gotchas” after the dinner I could have thrown in, although it would be nice to be able to actually discuss at length rather then having to settle for these little back and forths. Family dinners doesn’t make for an ideal setting for these tenser convos, but what other opportunities do we ever get?

Its cuz libs are idealists, they believe the system is just and good, the problem its the bad actors that abuse the system, but if they work really hard and believe on it then good can win aganst evil.

But the reality its more like a terminaly ill pet, you really want them to get better and you will do anything the vet tell you and get all the medicine, but at the end of the day you just know its not enough and you dont really want to accept that.

The white libs have all been economically secure their entire lives - through Clinton and W and Obama. Biden really will save them - they can be mad at him not being good enough if they work hard enough, but mostly they don't have to performatively pretend that Trump has actually made their life worse in any meaningful way except being mad on Twitter/Facebook/Reddit and maybe attending one protest in four years.

Most of the liberals in my real life are cool and reachable and generally do not have lockstep Vote Blue No Matter Who opinions - they're construction workers or teachers or nurses or etc.. The MBAs and the ad executives, not so much - and more closely resemble online libs.

well fellas I got dumped by the girl I was dating over the summer. Kind of saw it coming for a while, I guess the physical distance was a little too much to overcome and we just wanted different things out of the relationship it seems. It's disappointing but what can you do really, at least it was a pretty amicable and honest split. Anyways back 2 being a fuckboy I suppose, see u guys soon x
