it reeks of the lib habit where thing upsets them, so they just say "thing bad lol" with zero acknowledgement of what actually caused thing.
covid was caused by hypercapitalism and colonialism which forced poor people to go further into the wilderness and make more contact with bats and shit.
then it was amplified by the west's atrocious toddler-tier response of doing literally nothing with a 4-month advanced notice
2020 doesn't suck, your country does. It's like how redditors say "FUCK CANCER" it's just holy shit you're a fucking actual infant
Yeh I’ve been saying to people in my social circle “yeh our brains are constructed in such a way that we’re wired to be like phew thank god that crappy year is over, but it turns out we just made years up and the fact that it’s January 1st 2021 doesn’t change a single thing about anything”. The pandemic had its roots before 2020 to begin with lol.
It’s like when all those celebrities died in 2016, and trump and Brexit happened, and it was all “omg can 2016 just end already” - bruh we’re still living in 2016. We’re still living in 2008, still living in 1989. Shit never ended.
Biden can say it, but change is coming sometime, someway. Socialism or extinction baybeee
Eventually people might realize that every new year becomes the worst year
"This year will be harder than last year. On the other hand it will be easier than next year"
EDIT: oh shit i scrolled down and noticed someone already used the quote i'm a fraud
Love to reject people's emotions for not being rigorous enough
Wow! Holy shit! I thought that things happened because of mystical energies associated with the number corresponding to the year we're in. Are you telling me that things can actually cause other things to happen? I never knew that! Let me give you this because I have truly been enlightened by your vast intelligence :gold-communist:
Seriously this shit is lame as hell. If I say, "Man, this week has been shit," the last thing I wanna hear is some asshole being like, "ACKCHUALLY the 'week' is just an arbitrary section of time and the thing that's shit is that you're being made to work overtime by your employer." Like, thanks, it might be hard for you to believe but I actually knew that already.
it's a bad perspective because 2020 was normal, at least by comparison to 2021, 22, and 23.
All of the "man I'm glad 2020 is finally over" threads will look hysterical in 2023 when we're all strapped into Emperor Huckabee's Blood Farm
"This year will be tougher than last year. On the other hand it will be easier than next year."
I let the trailer for that "death to 2020" series play, and took a heavy notice of them calling 2020 "the most historic year in history". I guess I get that they can't not say that, since it's a trailer and meant to hype you up to watch the series, but yeah it drips with liberal "end of history" ideology. Americans couldn't imagine something real happening to them, since nearly fuckall has happened in the past 50 years (you got 9/11 sure but is there any other moments where crazy history-book shit went down on a national scale?)
The most historic year in history?! COVID is bad but it’s not exactly this epoch defining moment. It’s an historical year sure, but the most historic year in recorded history? Fuck off Black Mirror you bunch of pseudo-intellectual ninnies. 2020 was a bad year for a lot of people, but to think it was the worst time for mankind reeks of historical illiteracy and narcissism.
It's probably the most historical year for the average American, and Americans tend to only see the world from their point of view. So I get why they're saying it but it's still really telling of the privilege in that statement alone tbh.
Yeah I don't know why it was advertised as 'from the creators of black mirror'(not to mention the title recalls the hate in the nation episode very strongly) like it was supposed be a dark sci-fi, it was actually a (relatively) humorous mockumentary style look back at the year, had it on in the background but highlights include Samuel L Jackson calling Bernie an 'anarchist grandpa' and the world most average woman played by Jen from the IT crowd (the 'just a regular mom' who turn out to be Q /plandemic pilled was pretty spot on, and Sarah Michelle Geller as Sarah Huckabee Sanders was pretty funny if very lib)
Anyway It give it a 3 or 4 and wouldn't recommend it really, but in their defense 'the most historic year in history” isn't meant to be taken seriously
I thought you were doing a thing on how 1933 was the most central year in history.
It's the Core of Time, yeah, but it's an arbitrary designation, I can't explain why I picked it, or did it pick me?
Having looked at it closely in a non-judgmental way (as best as I have been able), I can say that everything that was going on then is going on now, only wearing a different skin.
Today is the last post.
Bad things are caused by things but sometimes we just want to point out that it's bad
Eh that's kinda how people are around December, isn't it? We recently found a little postcard my grandpa (a devout communist who was serving in the Red Army) wrote to his parents: "Happy New Year! 1942 will be the year we beat Hitler." It's like, oh grandpa..... you jinxed all of 1942 :(
I don't know COVID 19 and the resulting crisis doesn't crack the top 5 worst things that happened to me to be honest. This year was just absolute shit personally
Yeah, almost unironically started to believe this year was cursed. So much bad shit happened in my personal life completely unrelated to COVID and the same happened to almost everyone I know too.
Maybe you just talk to privileged people, but 2020 sucked for many people. I'm not saying that liberals have a point. 2020 mostly brought out the failures of our system. Yet, people in China died, a couple even in Cuba. My aunt in Iran, who just heat cancer, had a very hard year. A Kurdish aunt and cousin died from covid, not because of systemic problems (even though there are plenty) , but because one asshole aunt had to visit a cremation, even though she new she had covid. In general, the most valuable people were hit the worst. Therefore, this virus is a tragedy. Never mind that it would have been way less tragic under socialism. Aside the virus, the cold War is getting hotter and hotter, the Kurds were left on their own and they lost some regions back to Daesh again. People in Iran are suffering from us sanctions. Plus, the virus stopped or slowed some other areas, that might safe lives. All in all, many things that were bad, got even worse. While not having as many good news as a year regularly would have.
So I think, everyone can wholeheartedly agree, that 2020 sucked ass. But not because of one person's boredom, because of the great suffering around the world.
It was without a doubt the worst year of my life.
I lost my brother in late 2018 and this was still on the whole a much harder year for me to deal with stress wise. Nearly starting WW3, COVID-19, Working from home, family sick with Covid, mom diagnosed with cancer, dads depression hitting new depths, sister is nearly homeless after being fucked over from having Covid, president Biden, and i work up to my neighbor being murdered this morning.
And that’s not everything, just a nice cross section of shit. It’s lib to say 2020 sucks but also fucking factual for a lot of us.
No no no, you see. January first, 2021 everything will be fine and dandy.
Joe Biden will flick his wrist and pronounce wingardium leviosa correctly and all our troubles will just float away
what new strain
Among the people I know, the ones who are saying "2020 bad" are the same people who have never experienced serious financial hardship or really much of any kind of hardship in their entire lives. COVID gave them just a small taste of what most of us have to deal with our entire lives.
they have been posting these incessant memes as long as I remember. Its really obnoxious.
I think it's kind of fun to use those exact same "year bad" arguments but just assume that it applies to the decade, since 2020 also marked the beginning of a new decade. Responding with "Just 9 more years of this to go, and then the 2020s are over!" or just "10 % done! Good job everyone!" is fun because it is such an incredibly weak and wrong argument, but you cannot respond without also dropping the "2020 bad" stuff that is equally wrong.
