Why did the helicopter with the faulty compass and micromanaging captain crash when it was flying over the bearing sea?

Because it’s a helicopter and they just do that all the time.

I'm imagining a Russian general venturing into some old dusty Soviet archive and finding an entire cabinet full of plans. Lol, plus there are almost certainly bases/fortifications built to counter this.

There is no reason to make a defensive line for this particular area. It is a thousand miles of woods, peats, and mountains. It is territory not worth fighting for.

America would lose 50,000 men just trying to build a road the rest of the way through the Alaskan wilderness

You're forgetting the part where the entire thing would be a 'public-private' partnership where some MiC contractor makes a billion dollars and Chevron somehow ends up with full mining rights to the entirety of Alaska

Great idea, the US should invade some random frozen fucking wasteland 4000 miles from the relevant area. Genius.

Edit: Just for fun, and to help visualize just how stupid this is, I've assembled an album of images from the area this person wants to invade. I say, send him in. He's ready.

he does have "Unfortunately, I know what I'm talking about" in his bio so I think we should strongly consider this line of attack and immediately start moving all our troops to Alaska to move across the really quite narrow strait if you look at it on a globe and y'know, they'll be at Moscow sooner than you think if we set a good march tempo or even get our fleet of vehicles going over there. the Mercator projection makes it look bigger than it really is

There's absolutely zero bad precedent for invading Russia during the winter. I have no idea what the problem could be.

The invasions lasted until winter and the winter helped fuck them up.

well the germans intended the invasion to be over before winter. they just met more resistance than they expected.

wanna say there is a precedent for america invading vladivostok and pushing into siberia. they did that during the russian civil war and got their asses handed to them

Marine quoted as saying "I dunno dude I thought they looked slavic enough and isnt this what we're here for? We dont need all this woke red tape messing with our mission to defend America".

President Joe Biden has issued a medal of outstanding freedomness to this brave Marine for his service.

Also not noted in the media piece is that the Marines knew damn well they were still in North America
