Angela Davis, born on this day in 1944, is a Marxist and feminist activist, prison abolitionist, philosopher, and educator. She is a professor emerita at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Ideologically a Marxist, Davis was a member of the Communist Party USA until 1991, after which she joined the breakaway "Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism". She is the author of over ten books, covering topics such as class, feminism, and the U.S. prison system.
Born to an African American family in Birmingham, Alabama, Davis studied French at Brandeis University and philosophy at the University of Frankfurt in West Germany. Back in the U.S., she joined the Communist Party and, as a Marxist feminist, involved herself in a range of leftist causes, including the second-wave feminist movement, the Black Panther Party, and the campaign against the Vietnam War.
In 1970, UCLA's governing Board of Regents soon fired her due to her Communist Party membership; after a court ruled this illegal, the university fired her again, this time for her use of inflammatory language.
Praised by many Marxists and others on the left, Davis has received various awards, including the Lenin Peace Prize. Davis has been inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame. Davis was Time magazine's "Woman of the Year" for 1971 in its 2020 "100 Women of the Year" edition.
"I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept."

Saw this woman on tiktok get swarmed with replies denouncing her for “north korea apologetics” when all she did was say that the north doesn’t actually claim to have invented burritos
God I fucking hate libs. Bloodthirsty morherfuckers. Anybody thirsting for a third world war should be stuck in a timeloop where they're impaled by shrapnel. Fucking ghouls.
damn... /r/antiwork destroyed by one shitty interview. ahh well... someone start an actual labor rights sub now.
Why the fuck would you show up to an interview on fox news. Have people learned absolutely nothing?
On Rogan Jordan Peterson said the best way to combat climate change is to "make poor people rich as fast as possible" and his evidence is that richer countries "care" more about the environment while poorer countries are too busy trying to make ends meet.
Later he criticized the idea of giving poor people money and said he once had a patient who was addicted to drugs and died, and if he had been poorer he wouldn't have been able to afford the drugs that killed him so he'd probably be alive today. Uhhh...
My vape pen broke, so a coworker gave me a gram of weed. After going two years without smoking bud and just vaping thc, this shit sucks lmao. It stinks, it tastes bad. I smoked weed every day for 6 years, and I don't think I want to go back to that. Edit: Plus it makes me nervous as hell.
Edit edit: Oh and happy birthday Angela Davis :angela: I know you're here posting.
Seven years ago, I had a super cheap 10 dollar multi-purpose vape that could do that. But I went through three of them, because they were garbage. So I just gave up because I was super poor.
Do you recommend herb vaping? It's been awhile since I've bought bud, I normally get a few live resin cartridges from the dispensary that last me a couple months. So I'm curious about the cost-benefit of giving herb vaping a chance again.
Yeah, but the good ones aren't cheap. Expect to pay $100 or so. I have had my original Arizer Solo for 5+ years and it works the same as when I bought it. Just picked up the Solo 2 this Xmas and it is rock solid too.

I use dry herb vapes because I grow my own outside during half the year and inside the other half. Cost of marijuana for me is very low, probably $10-20 an ounce. I tried making concentrates a few times but it was too much of a pain in the ass.
$10-20 an ounce?? :lenin-pogger: I could legally grow my own, I just never really considered it. How many plants would someone need if an ounce lasted them 2-3 months?
Even some non-hybrid plants will produce at least an ounce in 8-9 weeks if you have them inside with 24/7 lighting during their vegetative state.
You can grow 3-4 ounces at home with 2 plants if you don't mind keeping them for 12-14 weeks.
This might be a super dumb question, but do the plants continue producing flower after their first harvest, or do you need to start over after trimming the buds?
Edit: only asking because I'm interested in getting into this as a little homebrew solution.
You can always cut back the flower and put the plant back into a vegetative state by going 24/7 light.
Some people keep plants for years and years, but honestly it is not usually worth it if you have access to cheap clones.
