I’m glad she was able to fly to Rome on a Wednesday to eat a cracker

Well when you put it like that, it makes Christianity sound downright silly.

Because all the "Catholics aren't Christians" Evangelicals have flocked to the Republican party. That and many historic nonwhite Europeans (Irish, Italian, Polish) were Catholics.

Many imigrant communities are heavily Catholic and many democrats are descended from earlier immigration waves. Biden loves to talk about how Irish he is.

I imagine if Biden went to Ireland during any past conflict and found to guns priests had stashed for revolutionaries he would rat them out

Because religion in much of the US is just aesthetics, because the real god is money.

Flying to Italy to see the pope instead of just going to a less shitty church in the same city, just oligarch things. Also basically asking to see the manager because you are getting bad customer service from the city's bishop

Also basically asking to see the manager

It shows that even if she's senile, she's still in there underneath the fog just as awful as she always was

When you get old and your brain starts to go the youngest memories get strongest. So if you've been in politics long enough to get your pic next to JFK it means... well it means bad things for the rest of us.

I get that he is the Pope, but he does seem pretty cool in general, all things considered.

(I do in fact have to hand it to him)

I used to get annoyed at the lib swooning, but I've come to really enjoy that he is a continuation of guys like Romero. Also he used to be in a band. I just love that contrast to the prior nazi and then nazi fanboy popes

Pretty sure he did issue a statement praising the repeal of Roe v. Wade but he does also support the preferential option for the poor so :shrug-outta-hecks: probably the best we'll get out of a Pope in a hegemonically capitalist society

    Pelosi knows about Leveraging Power

How To Completely Avoid Leveraging Power For Good Causes by Nancy Hilary Pelosi, pHD.

Genuinely would like to know how the fuck they reached the conclusion that Pelosi knows anything about leveraging power. She was one of the most useless Democrats even during the first bush administration. And when they actually got a majority, the first thing she did was to say "we are not going to impeach the president, just because he lied and we went to war with Iraq over those same lies".

"No altar, no belief, no holy book, neither the Qur’an nor the Bible nor the others, have ever been able to reconcile the rich and and the poor, the exploiter and the exploited. And if Jesus himself had to take the whip to chase them from his temple, it is indeed because that is the only language they hear.”

I come from a strong Catholic family of the liberal side. They mostly side with Francis. However my sibling's partner's family are all conservative Catholic and a boatload of them voted for Trump. If I were to distill it down to a quip I would say my own extended family are "Catholic Americans" and my sibling's inlaws are "American Catholics"

Can't do any kind of strategery to fight Republican policies, but she can personally fight her local archbishop for her personal glory. Although this does kind of own.
