Must be the same math Paul Krugman uses to determine inflation isn’t a problem.

"If you simply only count white REAL voters, the Democrats... ate shit so hard they made Walter Mondale look like a rocket surgeon. Making them the victor!"

Libs mostly seem to be pointing to “if only the college-educated voters were the ones that counted”

At the final count, Harris only lost the popular vote by about 2.5 million. She received 6 million less votes than the previous election, but of course thanks to our bull shit system none of that really matters because 7 states get to decide our entire election.

they may have lost the votes, but they won the moral battle, so it's more of a draw really

** Loses presidency and congress, performs noticeably worse in areas dems had previously dominated **

"We were pretty close though, better stick with the same strategy."

Honestly though, I could absolutely see the democrats winning in 2028 purely from the sort of incumbent burnout we get in this country.

I think the only reason they have gotten this far is knowing how much the carrot and stick effect helps them. Trump steps in now with the the ridiculous tariffs, 4 years of that will make people beg for Democrat incompetence again.

I've been thinking about this lately. The average American probably fucking hates America without realizing it because they've been propagandized on American exceptionalism their whole lives. So instead they just think they're deeply unsatisfied with whatever the current leadership is. No, it couldn't possibly be that our great country is a top to bottom failure that can't be reformed, we just need someone to make better choices for us. So it'll just bounce back and forth from either party forever with Americans getting more pissed off every 4 years until, I don't know, nothing probably.

This is a direct result of winning the cold war. All alternatives to the status quo are unthinkable, so constant decline into a neoliberal dystopia is the only possible future. Americans can't imagine a better world, they're allergic to structural change.

We were so close to barely winning that all we need is a bit of luck next time. We should change nothing. Definitely don't run on healthcare, reform people love their healthcare insurance. I am a professional consultant.

Is there a term for using the concept of intelligence as a shovel to dig yourself ever deeper into stupid holes? I know "too clever by half" exists, but I don't feel like that quite applies to the Democratic party

The environment is a thing that just sort of exists, and there's simply no way for them to control whether or not it's favorable either.

Yeah, Kamala came shockingly close, she only lost both the popular and electoral vote (making her worse than Hillary), and even though Biden got around 16 million votes more than Hillary did in 2016 while she got 15 million less, clearly she was doing really well.

(Hey, is this the same Eric Levitz from the other post someone made about insurers changing their plans to pay less for anesthesia?)

Let's keep doing the same thing forever and pretending like maybe next time it'll be different! That's how you can tell America is the greatest country on earth! They just keep doing the exact same thing repeatedly forever and expecting a new outcome! amerikkka-clap
