Absolutely. There are certain types of names that should honestly just be illegal, and are in some countries. For me, as the level of weirdness goes up, it actually becomes ok and then not OK again, a couple times

              From least to most unconventional:

              • Common names ✅
              • Uncommon names ✅
              • War criminal names ❌
              • Misspelled common names like "Gianathunn" ✅ fine but why, why??
              • Profanity or any kind of plain-language degrading like "fuckass" or "dumpsterwater"❌
              • Common names where you arbitrarily assign letters and claim they represent different sounds "Oh it's pronounced Johnathan, spelled like 'Pppppppp'❌
              • Common words that don't even sound like a name, like naming your kid fuckin "Best One or "And The" or some shit, so every time someone says their name everyone else thinks they had a stroke❌
              • Completely unique invented names that don't sound like any word ✅ Just typin out random letters like "Bandalagika" or "Diunchip" doesn't bother me at all because you assume it has to be a name
              • Literally unpronounceable names ❌ Fuck you

If communists are not anti American, why do some of them say "death to America"? I'm genuinely curious, I've been trying to understand alternate perspectives but it is confusing reading some of the communist interactions on lemmy. Are they trying to be ironic, or are those just foreign propaganda trolls, or do some communists actually want to see a whole country burn, innocent children and all? Is it an inside joke that I just won't get because I'm a "stupid lib"?

We are anti-america, they're pointing out the irony of using the 13 stripes, referring to the original colonies, in a communist America fantasy.

Also, it's death to America, not death to Americans, i.e the military-industrial complex, exploitation of the global south, and related culture that masquerades as a country. Most people would rather that didn't mean reducing the country to ash, but revolution and dissolution of the current state.

"Death to America" doesn't refer to killing every person in America, it refers to the death of a nation-state and the ideology it's built upon.

Leftists use this term to advocate for the abolition of things like: fascist police death squads that kill disproportionately lower income and black/brown people indiscriminately and with impunity, the ending of American imperialism that immiserates the entire world while poisoning our planet, the end of neoliberal institutions (which we created) that enforce structural inequality across the entire world (like the IMF), ending nuclear holocaust and weapons proliferation, the evisceration of the bourgeois class that has plundered and profiteered off the natural resources we need to survive, etc; all of which are hallmarks of American structure.

Of course, too - to make an omelet, first you have to crack a few eggs.
