It’s ancient Chinese history based off the video game total war: three kingdoms
I didn't know much about it, but just looked it up. For anyone else who is as uncultured as me:
TIL
Romance of the Three Kingdoms is amazing. War, love, treachery, bitchin guitar solos, 2nd century chemical warfare, LU BU, deception, intrique, and a lot of digressions about horses. Absolutely ace. You should read it.
OwO
the 2010 show is also cool as hell though incredibly cheesy (its apparently the most expensive chinese show ever made). dude who plays cao cao is amazing
theres like 100 episodes of it on youtube (edit to add link)
sounds right up my alley. will def be checking it out.
I just did a quick search and...
The Three Kingdoms - Episode 1 English Subtitled Edition
Edit: It's listed as being episode 1 on a playlist of many more episodes (though episode 6 is mysteriously missing). It looks like the link RandyLahey provided is the one to go with instead.
Yeah, the link I provided is titled as episode 1 but when the video is played, on screen it shows as episode 95, so... probably not the best place to start. Never trust a title, I guess.
this is definitely not the first episode, this looks like right near the end...
:shrug-outta-hecks: I only went by what it was labeled. I'll edit to refer to your link instead.
found it here, looks like almost all the episodes
i remember it was really hard to find episode 6 though for some reason
I've been watching King's War (also known as Legend of Chu and Han) on Netflix, from the same director and featuring much of the same cast, and it's also pretty goddamn cool. The guy who'll become the founder of the Han Dynasty is a small-town prankster and no one has any idea that he'll be the emperor in, like, a decade. Meanwhile, Xiang Yu is clearly in love with a horse, Ziang Liang is recruiting a strongman to throw a giant spikey ball at the emperor's chariot, and because of weird editing the episodes end in "cliffhangers" that are really just pauses in conversations. I'm having a blast.
Edit - Lu Bu from Three Kingdoms plays Xiang Yu; the Qin king from Hero is Liu Bang.
but whats the history they referenced?
They didn’t reference anything, the ancient Chinese referenced the video game
No I mean, what would it mean to have that happen in real life like OP said, I'm so confused lol
If you were to play the game you would understand, it’s called total war: three kingdoma
I get that part now, nevermind tho, guess it was just a post for G*mers only
Sorry for messing with you lol, I’m guessing they meant it as a reference to reunification of historical soviet/Russian lands for Russia
its okay and thank you :meow-hug:
Well shit, here I was thinking it was a deep literary reference
Nah don't read into it, I was just hitting the ejector seat button
220 to 280 AD, fall of Han after yellow turban rebellion
